At 5% APR it is about £3500.
At Wonga rates you would be calling in the liquidators … :pinch:

Hang about, the Bells of St. Martin’s were owed the five farthings.
One farthing was ¼d (one quarter of an old pre-decimal ‘denarius’ penny), 1p (new pence 1971 to 1981 or 1982> pence) = 2.4d. Therefore the original debt of five farthings 1¼d would have been approximately ½p (£00.520833).
What’s the maths to calculate 270 years compound interest at a rate of 8% per annum?
Mrs Art calculated the amount owed after 270 years (1744) at 8% annual compound interest on £0.00520833 (five farthings) and arrived at £5,509,507.17. My maths, like the Bonne’, are a little rusty so I checked this using the calculator site and arrived at £5,509,503.65 :ermm:
