dodging the speeding penalty

avoid the fine

Good idea but i would imagine getting caught with it would mean Much heavier penalties!

it would for sure over here.

I had a Corgi 007 car that did that in about 1969:D

About 4 years ago at the Ace I had a chat with a group of 3 guys on sports bikes who had bought a kit from the states that flicks the reg plate to reveal a secondary plate, they had the small letter box plates.

The unit was connected to a switch on the handlebars - & when demonstrated flicked within a second. They didn’t have other false reg numbers, just abusive words on the secondary plates that would have made whoever examined the speed camera footage chuckle.

It’s bound to happen over here, especially with the police now using covert vans to hide sped scameras. People driving perfectly safely, going about their business are being targeted to raise additional tax revenue and that’s just corruption by another name.

Have a look here: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&t=530987

speeding is not an offence against humanity it is a draconian measure introduce by a labour government and mamby pamby nurse maids who dont want us to do anything that is in the least bit fun or challenging…or in their eyes and the word they use (though not fact)…unsafe.

It is unrealistic and clearly unwanted by the majority of the public so lets get rid of what we have and introduce sensible limits, where needed…sensible training, needed by all…and have more fun on our roads safely…

oh yes forgot to add about the last video daryyl produced that has now been scrubbed by the bbc was clearly showing that speed cameras caused accidents not reduced them…

I think we all know that travel is dangerous…but it aint that bad…

Do you seriously believe this bable?

You think that its safe to raise the limits so that EVERY road user can go faster if they want? Granted there are people with the skills and training to manage those speeds…but there are also the people on the road that THINK they can manage those speeds who lose control and kill themselves, Children, friends and family because they think Speed limits are “unneccessary”. Now im not saying i dont speed because i may have happened to pass the limits on occasion

But really…YOU may handle increased speeds…others cant. If it was a matter of re-education…there are £60 million people in the UK and alot of them have licenses…not all of them legit (brothers, friends taking tests for them etc) You seriously think re-education is viable?

I like the fact that limits sometimes catch illegal immigrants who’s road training and tests consist of driving around a fuel drum and a dead cow or people with fake licenses. So they dont drive their cars through the windscreen of my car killing me and my children.

A friend of my sister made his own which works really well! The plates sits on a taily tidy style bracket thats hinged and at the press of a button it flips up and once your past the camera, press the button down it comes - brilliant  Once I see them on ebay for sale Im buying one

Is it just me that see’s the irony of 2T’s post?

The man who has in the last 4 months binned a brand new ZX10R, a 7R and an R1 is calling for speed limits to be altered so we can all have more fun (translated = legally more speed) on the public roads?!?

Funniest thing I’ve read in ages! :stuck_out_tongue:

Well in logical rather than illogical response to your notes…

  1. the difference between 70 mph and 100 mph and 200 mph is relatively insiginifcant as all three speeds will likely reult in the death of the occupants/riders if he decides to hit something.

  2. With training we can all be taught to go faster, safer…its a contemporary police response when they are questioned about exceeding the posted speed limits.

  3. Pompeyman…my experiences of track days is case in question, I am learning to go faster on track, where it is safest to learn, but totally different to road riding/driving…where are you learning…?

  4. The germans still have unlimited road speeds, and every tom dick or henrietta uses the roads, some choose not to go along at 200mph, some do…its a choice and sadly some do get killed. But as I have said before 70, 100 or 200 the consequences are the same.

  5. Your comments prove you are still brainwashed and cant think for yourself, the lies perpetrated some time ago that speeding faster than the speed limit kills is not true, but it could if you dont drive within certain parameters. Its time we taught people those parameters and improved transportation and mobility.

  6. The issue of immigrants is somewhat bizzarre but poor training is prime opportunity to introduce 5 yearly tests and improve their skills, not by catching them speeding which is very unlikely to do what you say…and I have to say that thankfully you are wrong becasue non of them has driven into you and killed you and your children…another emotive and rather pointless comment on your part and one that adds not a jot to the debate.

I didn’t read this until 2strokes replied to you . . .

Education is one of three ways to reduce injury and deaths on the roads, technology in vehicles is one (ongoing and proved to be very effective), road design and planning is another and education is the third. Raising driver standards is the easiest and cheapest of the three . . . and has got to be the main focus. You must have seen for yourself the poor standards of driving in the UK right now, nothing to do with immigrants, just plain ol’ white, english, white van man for a start . . . how many bikers have been knocked off by him ? How about busy woman with three kids in the car on the way to school ? One of the biggest dangers to kids these days outside school is their own parents ! :w00t: One local school near me has asked the police to watch for dangerous parents and explain to them what they have done wrong . . . no idea if it’s working but for a school to take that step is alarming ! (no speeding involved as far as I know, just poor driving, inconsiderate parking, lack of attention to driving etc)

The issue of people coming to the UK with lower driving standards than our own is important but it’s not speeding that catches them, they can easily kill long before they speed. What will a speed scamera do to educate, help and move that persons driving on to a standard that will enable them to be safer and more considerate ? Same as it does for any of us . . . jack sh*t.

2T - you have live cows, you should offer advanced tests

I’m with 2T - outside of residential built up areas, why should there be a limit of 60/70 mph ?

Accidents are caused by poor driving not speed - driving / riding too close to the vehicle in front is far more dnagerous than riding along at 120 leaving a safe gap.

The 70mph limit is seriously outdated and let’s face it, if you pass the old bill on a motorway and you’re doing 85 or under - they ain’t gonna stop you if your driving is ok.
