odds of getting mugged if you bought this for £2,800 & went to pick this up with cash in hand?

(a bike in that condition/with that mileage is prob. worth over £5k, not under £3k!!)

Seems a bargain.
Go look at it and then if all ok then go get some money.
+1
These are usually from Nigeria, when you go their to view the bike there’s just a courier or a courier comes to you or a neutral venue. Their excuse for this is apparently to make sure your genuine.
The courier then takes your money (or large deposit) saying he’s a intermediate hired by the seller as he can’t attend. If you refuse they try the pay into Western union trick. Either way you won’t see the bike or your money again.
All these adds on Gumtree should be reported as spam.
lol - I see…
(haven’t had direct experience with these guys/this kind of thing thankfully…)
I have never heard the words genuine and gumtree in the same sentence.
From the amount of dodgy adverts on Gumtree it’s a wonder they survive.
Owned by ebay thats how they survive;) You’re right though, so much nicked stuff on there and its very poorly policed. mate at work is trying to get a decent camera. Every time he responds to an ad on there, its always, I dont live in the UK please send the money to some dodgy money transfer company and then i’ll send you the camera…
I did buy my previous bike from there though and it turned out to be an absolute bargain… swings and roundabouts i guess;)
if there’s no name or phone number, its 99.9999% a scam
Generally with these things if it looks too good to be true then it probably is.
Just for you Kev, a genuine advert on Gumtree!
Cor that bunch in Greenwich sound a dodgy lot
Ha ha, you must have been round before!!
also see if there is any finance still on bike as this maybe why its under market value:)
the worst one i have heard on gumtree is the deposite for the house scam.
You go look at a house they take you in its empty but nice, the rent is generally a good deal. They meet you again and you pay the deposite and rent in advance and agree you move date/sign a contact. Then all goes silent and you turn up at the house 2/3 weeks/days later and find either the locks changed or other people living there with no idea what your talking about.
Happend to 2 of my mates, once in kilburn once in peckham. They find the houses and get in under squatters rights and then basically rent it out!!! Cheeky Bastards!!!
cost my mate 3.5k
thanks:w00t:
