Do I expect too much?

Ok, I know, perhaps this should be in the Praise/Shame section, but it’s more a rant than anything.

So I’m putting the fairings back on my baby, cleaning everything as you do and of course I’m a couple of fairing screws missing despite my best attempts to keep all the nuts, bolts and fasteners together in the same jar while she was in bits.

I think “shall I traipse in to Staines to Jack Lilleys (my preferred dealer) or nip out to Aylesbury to On Yer Triumph?” and decide the latter as it feels closer and doesn’t involve the M25 in the rain.

Now I know I should have rung first, but I really expected them to have 2 fairing screws in stock, you know? And they cost £4.50 each which is a bit upsetting, but in the big picture I don’t mind as much as having to back to pick them up next week.

Dammit I bet Lilleys have jars of the wretched things sitting about. Probably free too. And they’d have given me coffee and come over here and fitted them too.

So there’s the lesson folks. Always ring first. Always.

And dealers - FFS sort your stock out. What if a mechanic stripped the screw? Wait 3 days for another to arrive? I think not.

And it’s raining so I can’t even take my baby out for a shake down.

I’m gonna have to go and buy that Xbox360 + free Halo3 that’s in Woolworths now AND IT’S ALL SOMEONE ELSE’S FAULT :stuck_out_tongue:

I believe that if you’re a dealer, you should have the decency to keep basic bits like screws, bolts, bulbs and mirros in stock at all times. I mean if you don’t have that sort of stuff in stock you’re NOT a dealer really are you…

You’re a badly organised middle man, and the rule is ALWAYS CUT OUT THE MIDDLEMAN!

On Yer Triumph has lost my business I’ll tell ya…and I drive a Kwakker!

This when it helps to build up a good relationship (or at least show your face regularly) with your local dealer. I was one fairing screw short, asked one of the mechanics (not in the shop as they’d probably charge you) and thirty seconds later had a brand new one in my mits for nowt.

Have you tried a local fastner shop? They might have something that will fit in stock and cheaper than the dealer supplied one and probably better quality too…

You paid £4.50 for a screw… :stuck_out_tongue:
