Dissasembling forks - Damper cartridge bolt not budging.

I can’t get the damper cartridge bolt out of the fork slider on my Yamaha (I’m replacing the oil seals and need to take out the fork internals) - The bolt has an allen head and I’m using an allen key with an extension bar slipped over it to get some leverage - the right hand fork bolt came out easy - the left is proving to be a right bugger - I’m putting a lot of force on it and it’s not budging - I’m dead scared that I’m going to round the bolt - which would be like a totally sh1t development. . . Debating whether to swallow pride and take fork to local bike shop and ask them to do it.

Unless anyone has any magic solutions?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

air gun!!

Aye, whack a rattle gun on that bad boy - YKIMS

Thanks fellas - I reckon your right! I’ll take it to a shop and they can get a gun or such like on it.

I accept no responsibility for you wrecking anything. Make sure the socket does not slip! I’ve used this before for fork internals.

Cheers Solamanda - may give it a go!

Got the sucker out with a deep hex socket bit attached to a breaker bar.I bought the hex socket bit this morning from a really good tool shop down the road from me!

Ha!

Hey Ninja you can do my forks next

Sure - when I’ve recovered psychologically from doing these ones!
