Difference between 2004 and 2006 CBR

All,

Are there any real differences between the 2004 and 2006 CBR600F models ? I know that some time after 2002 they moved away from fully adjustable suspension (rebound and compression damping), but I’m not sure when that came in.

I’ve got a choice between a 2004 and a 2006 model of this bike, and price difference is significant. The mileage is about the same and the 2004 comes in straight black… like my soul!

For the price difference, I could add on a Hagon shock with remote preload and an Abba stand as well as an aftermarket end-can. That’s a lot of extras for the money, but I’m trying to understand what I’m sacrificing for these bits.

I always found the people on the CBR Forum to be very knowledgeable and friendly - http://www.cbr-forum.org.uk/index.php.

I couldn’t manage to register there, so I keep posting here

Someone listing the differences wont help too much, take both bikes for a spin and see what you prefer  i own a 2004 cbr125 my mates 2005 version is sportier, lighter, and abit faster. but we both agree mine is almost as fast and so much smoother and more comfortable.

(but my talent makes up for the slower bike :w00t:)

This bikes 175 miles from here, so I’ve not got an opportunity to test it unfortunately. It’ll be an internet purchase.

ive got a 2004cbr600 and love it however ive never ridden or know anything about the 2006 model so im not much help really

I’ve just had a 2006, so I know loads on that, but no comparison - Doh!

Does yours have adjustable damping on the suspension?

tbh i dont know anything about the suspension on my bike yet but found this

“Front and rear suspension are fully adjustable for preload as well as rebound and compression damping.”

Ok, that’s interesting thanks - the 2006 only has preload settings for the back, no rebound or compression damping.
