Difference bet. Shoei and Arai

Had an Arai Quantum something or other, OK lid but noisier than a Shoei & I didn’t like the way the front vent on the chinbar wasn’t baffled, so if you hit an insect it directed the remains directly to your mouth !

Currently have a Shoei & a Roof Daytona, the Roof is very nicely made & the quietest helmet I’ve ever used, however after using the Shoei’s visor system for so long I now find the Roof’s change system such a pain (even though it’s only a couple of screws) that I wouldn’t buy another one because of it.

May try a Schuberth S1 at the bike show as I’m tempted by the flip down internal sun visor thing.

Yay Matt’s lid is SO COOL with the flip down sun shade thing. Real TopGun stuff I like I like

Arai guy for many years now. If your looking for a new lid just make sure youre fitted correctly rather thanfitted up`. An expesive but bad fitting lid will give you less protection if you stack.

The Arai is generally a better fit for those with a slimmer face and Shoei will fit those with a fuller or rounder face.

I clean my lid with a little washing liquid and warm water and get the bugs off the visor and elsewhere by leaving a damp kitchen towel on them for a few minutes and polish with pledge.
Ive always used pledge as ive seen many racers use it, hope it`s not damaging anything.

Im lucky to have three Lids…

Shoei, Aria, AGV…

The Shoei saved my bacon…stood up to major impact and was comfy but heavy.

The Aria I love as it fits really well and feels light…downside is the venting…its hot hot hot !!!

The AGV fits like a flipping dustbin lid…my ears hurt me after a while becouse of the inner linning lay out and the noise is horrendous through the vents but

its light and the design is spot on where vision and visor removal and cleaning come in to it !!!

Ahh, but your very nice with it.

i tried a shoei and a arai but got a dainese airtec which is very well vented and cool but a little bit noisey but real comfy

i guess the proverb "To each his own " applies here …i think the sizing is right cuz i take a meduim, mebbe the chin strap was a lill loose but regarding the visor removal Shoei wins hands down, the Arai one is just a total p*** in the a** to remove, at the end of it , am happy with both lids.!

I had the same problem with my Arai rx7, it pushes back towards my face at speed, eventually squashing my nose. This is after lots of trying on & experimenting with different cheek pads etc. I have just bought an AGV TiTech that seems to fit a lot better and was handily reduced from £400 to £250 at HG including the free tailored fitting service. As the world’s biggest AGV dealers they get exclusive [usually rossi] limited edition paintjobs you wont see elsewhere.

As for sharing helmet polishing tips, please . . . . I still cant get over the image of B with his can of Pledge . . .

OI…who you calling a wierdo…
