After seeing how tasty a Yamaha XJR can look when its set up I’m goign to sell my fazer and try to get on the case of making my own.

Check these pics in the link bellow- does anyone know where this geezer may have bought his tank from? I have tried to email him on every website that has pics of his bike, but Im getting no response…

Any help would be much appreciated indeed- its the tank that makes this bike look so Hench.

thanks and Ride Safe!!!

According to the text it’s the original tank just modified to allow clip-ons to be fitted.

Machine Mart do a good range of hammers…

Thats some smooth hammering!

Surely not?

I spent more time digging around and found his bike up for sale on Ebay a few months ago- check the pics, surely that was not done with a hammer?!?

I’m completely new to the world of modifying a bike and reckon the tank is the most important part of any bike, so am well keen to get this bit right…

cheers

anyone?..

you’d be amazed at what a skilled fabricator can do with a hammer, it wouldn’t surprise me one bit if it was done by hand then smoothed with filler to make it immaculate for paint

I’d imagine that it was cut the welded back in place but reversed…

Tromboman and Ricco: thanks!

I had no idea this was possible actually… Good to know**

I’ll google and contact a few metal workers and see what this could cost… The tank is such an important part of a bikes ‘personality’ I reckon.

I’ll update in a few weeks once I sell my fazer/ buy a cheap XJR/ deisgn the tank/ get it made…!

Cheers all

Yeah that sounds more likely actually.

Welding a tank is a pretty specialised job, not every metal worker will be happy to do it.

I’ll keep yas up to date with how it goes-

cheers fellas

I look forward to seeing the results!
