Desmo Duo Convertionfor road use

I’ve seen the picture of a 916-monster conversion of the Desmo Duo series and am thinking about modding my monster.

I aspire for it to look like the white one, but have also found a road version (the monster dark) that someone made in the States.

Now tell me, is what I want to do a crime against Ducati or the makings of a truly unique hybrid ?

I quite like the two Louigi ones with the high level pipes, not so sure about the Monster dark, think you need the high level pipe to carry it off, gives it a more bulldog apperance with all the bulk up front.

Im thinking of entering the Desmo series next year, would be interested to hear how you get on with the conversions.

It’s worth a go Would hurt your resale value though.

here’s mine:

748/916 fairings upfront, custom built alloy fairing brace, clocks inset into the brace, bars removed in favour of clipons. GSXR750 k5 seat unit up back, MHP custom built zorst. dual disk modification.

Bodywork has gone away for painting and should be back soon.

Nice job Trouty.

Can I ask who made your fairing attachments?

The main issue I’ve come up against is getting a headlight bracket configuration. Also whether to go for carbon fibre or not

Trigger - Will do. I’m getting some good contacts in the process which will be useful for you too.

It shouldn’t do as all the fairings etc are removable. Apparently it takes about 1/2hr to back to normal.

the headstock is a 2 pice affer, one piece clamps to the headstock with jubilee clip/s, the second piece bolts onto that. you definitely wont get a headlamp on it though. Maybe try a 748 fairing mount and create a headstock piece for it to bolt to?

the fairing side mounts are a cobbled together affair, basically some pipe that has been cut down to wrap the frame (good ol jubilee clips again), with a bit sticking out for the fairing to bolt to (cable tie, in my case)

Note, the fairings need to be cut to fit better. the pic of mine is pre-cutting. you can see where they been cut on louigi’d bikes there - around the clutch cover and the sidestand. i dont know how the monster sidestand measures up as mine is without a sidestand.

the chap who built the louigi bikes did my brackets for me.

can add up a pic of the bike now with its bodywork painted

That’s really good looking, nice work Trouty!

another angle

Nice one
