I am looking for a good back protector for a lady (ie me). I have found back protectors in general bike stores, but they are way too long in the back and don’t fit well under leathers. The one I have is basically armour and slots into my leather jacket, but, even though it has saved my bacon once, it is not very strong or good quality.
I have had some very good advice on here about winter warmer gloves, battery chargers and other products, so I am hopeful someone can give me some info on ladies back protectors. This is such a crucial piece of kit, I don’t really like riding without a good one.
Yeah - go for the Knox - they come in lot’s of different sizes and are nice and slim line but still do the job of protecting your back - so you can wear them under a jumper quite unobtrusively - e.g. they don’t make you look and feel like a mutant ninja turtle.
I have a demon shield vest… i use it for the bike and snowboarding, fits under my hoody nicely. Luckily not put it to test yet though but i feel more confident having it there
knox is no where near as a good fit as forcefield love mine and my friend who is size 10 5"6 bought a ladies one from infinity clapham and loves it aswell
Excellent - that’s great advice - so thanks! Forefield seem to be coming in at number 1 with you guys, then Knox and ASBO vouching for Demon Shield
That’s something to go on, so will look these makes up on line and then check out the stock for women in the Infinity near me. I want something that fits inside my current leather jacket.
I can only repeat what others said about the forcefield. Very comfortable.
I wear it snowboarding all day and it gets a bit warm when hicking, but it has saved my spine from a hard impact a couple of times.
Fortunately, I have never “put it to the test” on the bike though, but I leave without.
Thanks for all your help! And also Afro who PMed with lots of pics of back protectors and recommended the H&G vest one, which helped a lot.
I got one today - it’s a perfect fit, goes under the jacket and ten times better than my old one. It is actually the Heine and Gericke vest one. They had Knox etc in stock, but not in my size, so went with the best fit.
Very helpful, cheerful and friendly people who sold me the back protector too.
If it’s comfortable you’ll wear it and forget it’s there. If it irritates in some form you’ll either stop wearing it or be at least a little distracted while riding.
(Back in the day when… I used some cheap cwappy non approved/marked goggles once I realised the expensive approved jobs spent most of their life up on the helmet. So. Cheap goggles/no goggles? Not realy a choice.)
