my datatool s4 alarm on my bike is playing up?? when i turn’t the ignition off and went to press the alarm button all i got was a beep, when i go to turn the ignition on it takes it much longer than usual to light up the clocks etc etc ??? any ideas, cant find any troubleshooting in the user guide or the net
low battery!
maybe check the unit hasn’t got too wet from tues mate. got water in mine on the ducati, didn’t do good things for it
hmm yea thats what i thought, once its a bit drier i’ll stick the optinmate on it and check the battery too
sounds worth getting it on the optimate either way. does the bike crank on the button or is it hesitant? hopefully its just the battery like sean saysthe datatool has a gasket to keep the internals dry but on mine either that failed or it got in via the siren (it was the 3 tho, you prob have the 4 which i think they improved this on?)the unit will have security screws on the top. think i might have some of the tools to get 'em off you can borrow to take the cover off and check for any water inside.just be warned mate, when i did it the first time it was fine. had to do it a second time and the water had shorted the electrics, as soon as the air got to it caught fire. best to have something ready to put it out with if so (ideally a fire blanket rather than spraying!) :w00t:
my alarm went mad after track day aswell
today seems to be fine
if there’s a problem with the alarm still after you have charged the bike - you have a 3 year guarentee *spelling - so it can be sorted for nothing!
don’t touch it if its in the ^ period!!
thats also a good point - it didn’t play up for a while after the trackday initially on mine (in fact it started screwing with the bike on a warm dry day a week or so after). was checking everything else first…
mine was replaced at no cost by the garage that fitted it …twice
