Pete, LB has a member (Charlie) that sells and fit them. He offers a good discount for our members, he will be on the members deal page very soon
its ok, but concider the following…
This works by inputting all the locations of fixed speed cameras. You can also get info on the temporary camera locations.
you won’t know about vans, police speed traps and cameras that have been installed since you last updated your hardware.
It works by GPS signal, and although once a fix is obtained you can lose a fix and not get the warning even if you have the location stored.
If you ride is certain areas regular enough, you’ll know where the cameras are, if you plan to use it in unfamiliar areas, you could be better off getting a Garmin Sav Nav fitted to the bike, which can also give you warnings, updated by d/loading from the internet. Also with the datatool I believe, like tom tom units, you have to pay a fee to suscribe to updates. The garmin is free to update.
I personnaly feel that if you want to ride at licence losing speed (above 100mph for example), then do it when you can be sure its safe to do so. For example roads you know well, and if you know them well you can spot the ‘van’ parked a bit off. Use your judgement rather than rely on kit which, you can’t 100% rely on.
Sorry if this comes across as a negitive view, I use a Nav Man Sat nav for my car, and temp use it on my bike (for me its better as I need european maps and a portable unit - If I was bike only I would go for the Garmin). Find I don’t really use the ahem ‘saftey camera locations’ and still got clean licence.
i have a road angel in my van which is undoubtly the most usefull thing i have purchased apart from my Tom Tom, i also bought the fitting kit to put on my bike which i thought would be handy, in a way it is but when you start notchin up the speed you cannot hear the warning and a sunny day makes the flashing screen and LED almost unnoticable unless your constantly looking down at it. i can fit the ear peice to it but if im going on a long trip id prefer the ipod, im not saying they are a waste of time but you really need a visual warning in your line of site or be not going fast enough so you can hear, the road angel also has a built in laser detector as well but anything will give you that edge and for a ton i dont think u can go wrong!
