Got my dark visor through today…first time i have used one !!
WOW what a difference so much better than wearing sunglasses no
more frames digging into my head. The law should def be changed on this.
Great arent they, if only they’d try them before dismissing them as easy as they do.
Must admit there are times when its too dark even during the day, but thats why I carry a clear one. I think I’m old enough to make my mind up thanks Mr. Blair.
I have had one for a good few years and they are brilliant. There is nothign worse than having a clear visor on and getting blinded by the sun.
I’m in full agreement. I wear glasses all the time and have never riden with sunglasses and wouldn’t for the following reason. As I’m nipping along in a progressive manner and I end up riding down a tree covered road, I can flip the visor up a lot faster than I can swap a pair of glasses.
Also, as a bit of a rant/useless info the law on goggles is different to visors. You can legally wear goggles that are a lot darker than road legal tinted visors.
I agree, the law is an ass, i can wear realy dark glasses but i can’t wear a tinted visor i can just lift up ??? i think it should be up to us to make our own minds up,
after all we are all adults…well in age anyway !!
yeah there good and look wicked aswell. I think the cozzers don’t like not being able to see your boat race. They like to be able to see if you look a bit iffy or guilty looking maybe.lol
Yea there may be some truth in that…
I always wear a dark visor… If I remember or have it with me I’ll switch if I got a night time journey to do… but even then the dark visor doesnt really bother me… it infact its great for taking the glare off on coming cars!
I think the ROzzers dont like them also for that very reason… that peeps dont change them when it gets dark…
Is car window tinting illegal? I know most dont do the windscreen but there are plenty with the door windows and rear window blacked out… dont here much about them getting pulled for it…
Only if they have a British Standard Mark which none of them do!
I always use my Dark Visor during the day but carry my Clear with me.
Has helped as the rozzer’s dont seem to mind me using my dark one when I show them I have a clear on me if it gets too dark.
I’ve never had a dark visor, although i did have a Schuberth S1 lid with a flip down dark insert which was a handy compromise, although it probably looked as cool as white socks & Nazereth knockabouts
Werd!! … It definitely should be a matter of personal choice, although I actually prefer a good pair of shades (ones that don’t dig-in) inside my lid, coz I always end up being out on my bike 'til after dark and I can’t be bothered carrying visors with me!
Are smoked visors illegal in the UK?
I wear a 20% smoked visor nearly full time. I only use the clear visor when I know I’ll be riding after dark. (Not often…)
Prob not at that tint. But ‘proper’ ones are - mind the police rarely give you grief about it these days. Too many other things to keep them busy - bombs, terrorists etc…
How are they over there? You must get so many more bright sunny days than we do.
Hey gregman, i think the law on visors here are that we can wear 50% tint but like Andrew said the sh1t heads errrr i mean police have better things to do than nick us for dark visor, racecans and small plates i for one hav’nt had any trouble and i live in a little town whith some very fussy police who somtimes have nothing better to do than have a pop at bikers for minor infringments of the law.
Honest i did’nt know officer !!!
Lots of bright sunny days here in the Summer…a properly smoked visor is a MUST.
You can send some of that sun over here Lovely day today though sun all day, gotta make the most of the last few nice days left.
I run with a dark visor quite often. I commute east to west in the morning and the sun over the elevated section of the M4 is bloody dangerous. I cary either a clear or a 20% smoked visor with me if it’s dark (like it is now) on the way home.
Has anybody tried either a yellow visor, or a yellow “pinlock” insert ? Mate of mine swears by it for low light conditions (overcast, not night time…)
Too many other things like cans, plates, tyres
I’m from over the pond so ya gotta work with me…there’s actually a law against dark visors??
I HAVE to use dark visors myself. I was blind for a few years and had several operations to restore vision, at least in one eye, and my eye is soooo sensitive to light I can’t ride without a totally blacked out one.
EDIT: Ok, I shoud have read page two before posting …it explains that tint thing.
