Is anyone else following the Dakar Race Rally or am i the only geek?

I am following it - watch the quick programme at 7:15 on Eurosport and the longer one at 10.

I met Tamsin (and Patsy Quick who is supporting her and the other british riders) last year - she is certainly a determined girl. I really hope she finishes, she’d be only the 2nd British woman to do it :cool:

I would follow it if there was any coverage on non-pay channels.

I used to follow it loads when I was a child. Awesome stuff, particularly in the days before satnav and the like. I remember people burning their tyres and stuff in the hope to be found after breaking down.

I have a lot of respect for any of the loons that do it.

oh yes, good to see other bikes in the top ten other than ktm, the sheraco was too until he crashed.

Annie Seel (yes the Swedish girl) strayed off the route, found a hole. Bike was 'coptered out, she carried on, only lost 2 hours. Hardcore.

Yes 50% of the Dakar entrants are KTMs :cool:

Closer to home, there’s the Margate beach race!!!

Just heard someone got hit by a car while spectating at the Dakar, thats a shame. They passed away :frowning:
