Thanks for the extra pointers re airbrush artists, it’s appreciated guys.
Will see what these quotes are like and if I don’t go with the one I’ve got my eye on then I’ll e-mail a few more bods.
This lid is basically what I’m wanting done except, change all the white on the lid to the blue colour of the Scottish flag, no thistles and a celtic cross in thier place instead. The flag covering the front of the lid will be the same if not similiar. I’m gonna be a poser and I’m having my surname at the bottom of each side of the lid as well.
Hey trojan - speak to Sincere tonight if your around - she had hers done and got a really nice job done. I think it was called custom helmet design - its Neil Hodgsons brother Carl. there are quite a few pics on his website.
Well, my Lid got sent off last week and the (very pleasant friendly) bloke has had it a week now, no doubt he’s got other jobs on at the moment but here’s my latest update -
"Your lid has been stripped, flatted, primed,it has had a white basecoat applied
and the front half is now yellow.
The next step is to apply the red details of the flag.
I should be close to finishing the red sometime tomorrow, then it will get a
protective coat of lacquer and allowed to dry before flatting off and shading
the flag".
"The first flag, the yellow Scottish Standard, is on.
I am just finishing the shading. There will then be a protective coat of lacquer
and then tomorrow I will be preparing to apply the metalic blue base for the
back of the helmet.
Long drawn out process eh.
The entire design and lacquer should take another 2 to three weeks
unfortunately. I know you probably can’t wait to get your design back, but this
is standard turnaround time, unfortunately".
I’m only keeping everyone updated in how it all goes as when I asked on here about it all, I was only told small bits and bobs … and of course I feel like a kid being told he has to wait till Christmas morning to get his present … I WANT IT NOW !!
