Just spotted this advertised on a petrol pump, so I thought I’d post on here in case anyone interested. It’s been going since January. Sorry if this has already been posted here (I did try searching).

Here’s the text:

Struth, no mention of roadworthy, insurance or MOT. They sound more like a pizza delivery outfit than a LB, then again I've seen some of the nonsense Waltham Forest are pumping out of the Town Hall.

The training is done by my employer, Phoenix. For this you use your own bike, so we take it as your responsibility to sort out tax and insurance. If you don’t have those…

My point was that you need more than ‘just a scooter or motorcycle and a valid CBT certificate’. There are some proper naive people out there who could wrongly assume they will be riding on the LB Croydon’s, or some other, insurance policy. Compare that to a say a Bike Safe Course where all documents, vehicles and even eye sight test are checked prior to the course.

BTW I’m fairly certain that if you as a professional instructor, offering a professional service, take someone out on public roads, whether that be their own vehicle or not, and it is either unroadworthy or, uninsured, or unwhatever you could be considered as guilty as they are.

Check if they’ve brushed their teeth and cleaned behind their ears while you’re at it would you Stu? You never know.

Come on guys, lets focus on the fact it might be of use to someone :)

Think the main question they should be asking considering its croydon is …
Is this your own bike or have you borrowed it ?

that too

Will do Alba! No place on the roads for bad personal hygiene!

Reason for it is that folk in the second year of their CBT who have yet to go to test are strongly over-represented in accidents compared to their percentage of overall traffic. It’s open to full licence holders as well though.

That backs up what Rusty said last year, too many CBT students just want a licence to deliver pizza. They then race around to meet targets and are accidents waiting to happen. The proper solution would be to introduce Laws that require professional riders to have proven their competence by passing the prescribed driving test!

I have been saying the CBT sucks ass for 12 years!! (coincides with when I took mine).  I felt confident as I'ld been diring a car for 5+ years prior so understood the roads.
On my CBT day there was a 16yr old there who was poop hot on the playground, second we got onto the road he just changed and freaked out didn't know how to use the road..

CBTs really are too basic for a spotty faced teenager! no way I’d let my kids out just on a CBT until we have clocked up some mileage with me in tow before letting them go on their own…
