Creating own fairing stickers...

Hey guys,

After doing an internet search and not really finding any results, Im just wondering if any of you might have some ideas.

Basically, the rear fairing of my bike, around the pillion seat area, is white, however the seat cowl I have is black, and only comes in black.

I was looking for some white, glossy, sticky back paper/thin plastic that I could shape and stick onto the seat cowl.

It doesnt have to look amazingly pretty, but obviously if it gets wet, I dont want it to soak up the water like paper does!

I did consider painting it, but wouldnt know where to start, and didnt want to bugger up the seat cowl if I **** it up!

Any ideas greatly appreciated. Cheers.

Try a company in Bromley (Creative FX) http://www.fxuk.net/ you should be able to visit and buy a sheet of what ever colour you need,

you could try this stuff, have used similar for kitchen work surfaces etc it is waterproof and hardwearing

There’s a chain of stores called HobbyCraft (Or HobbyKraft, I forget…) that sell the exact stuff you’re after by the metre. I’ve used it on my car and it works well - even resisted spraypaint! The stores 'emselves are few and far between, though!

there’s a massive hobbycraft near me in Maidstone.

theres one in greenford

one Watford I think, near Bushey Arches

Fablon. All diy store sell it

www.bikehps.com Plenty of sticker kits for fairings

Forget sticky back plastic, fablon etc.

Go to a shop that does vinyl signs on vans etc and ask them to sell you a meter or two of whatever colour your heart desires:cool:

this all sounds like a nightmare waiting to happen! Just get a decent match paint, sand it down, get the right primer, paint it, rub it down with some 1500 grit and laquer it, simple as. Seriously take your time and dont rush each stage and you’ll have a pro finnish rather than a stickback nightmare full of creases and bubbles

Nah, forget all that. Wallpaper it, is the way to go! Slap a bit o’ paste on and pick out a nice floral print or stripy pattern…

hahaha nice bit of Baroque flock wallpaper, all the rage this year

fine as were all being silly!

Ulpulster it! a lovely floral beige number! In fact go down the local charity shop and buy a nanas frock to save money on material. :stuck_out_tongue:

Then staple the foooker to the back  haha

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Some more suitable then others :stuck_out_tongue:

What I’ve decided to do is I’m going to buy a set of those white go faster stripes you see on Novas and Fiestas, cut out the shape that I need from one of the strips (I only need a small amount), then to finish it off get some nice small red Aprilia stickers and stick them in the bottom corner. Should look sweet :stuck_out_tongue:

Then the leftover white stripe, well, I could just put it on my cage, adds at least 10mph
