thats what i thought at first but there is no damage to the wheel nor mud gaurd, so nothing could of hit the wheel to knock it? surley the forks woulda given way before the headtube is knacked?
this bike looks fecked and i (myself)wouldnt feel comfortable riding it…
trust is everything on a bike and if you dont trust it…then thats the whole riding ethics out of the window…i personally would’nt go hight speed on it without a full frame intergration test…
just to check the front end aint gonna seperate from the bike at 80mph…
saying that…if the frame is fecked and you wanna buy it to transfer the working parts to another bike then quite a good project and a bluddy good learning experience…
the choice is yours and top banana for asking for the V5…GOOD THINKING BATMAN!!!
if you need someone to veiw the bike with ya just gimmie a nod mate…if im not working…i’ll go with ya and ask those…awkward questions…lolol
Unless you are good at these things, and know the right people, I wouldn’t touch it with a barge pole. There is a good chance that the frame has been bent on that. You can get them straightened at a few places, one being motoliner in Maidstone. Does not cost a great deal but should be taken into consideration, especially the time it will take you to get the bike to the format they require for straightening. I would say the forks are probably bent as well, and no, you don’t really go straightening those, if not too bad they probably could be done, again, you would need to consult with someline like motoliner for this. The rest of the bits you should be able to pick up from flea bay. I would be very suspect if there are no keys with it. Def make sure its got a V5, check the frame and engine numbers against it if you go and look at it.
if it’s just had a front end smash, how did the pipe and the clutch/alternator casing take such a beating? it looks like it was sliding at quite a speed to wear through that casing.
I think it’s one of those things were you need to have a good look at the bike in person, as once you strip it down you could run into a whole load of small parts you would need to sort out and thats where the cost start to mount up.
why dont just ‘borrow’ that yellow and black one???
Having now looked at the full article and stuff, it is worse than originally stated. Its only described as a CAT D right off, but, it also states that the forks may be damaged. Looking at the pics, I would be even more wary of the bike now. As the engine cover has been ground through, it will have lost its oil. Did the bike cut out straight away? Has it been run at all since? Did any of the shards of metal get into the engine? I would also be suspect of the front end electrics, they could well have been crushed which may not be apparent to start with.
Oh, and its from a salvage company, not the original owner.
If your after a crash repairable try http://www.rsmotorcycles.co.uk/ they are pretty good with prices and you get to inspect it first. Pretty much the cheapest around, I’ve found.
