Sorry to hear about this mate. Hope you get well n get the baby sorted. Cage drivers are real dimwits when it comes to incidents like this.

I came off on a country lane ten years ago, the cage had to stop coz my bike cartwheeled in his path. I ended up in the ditch and the prat just drove off. Lucky I was ok but what if I was badly injured?

We bikers have got to stick together. Am sure there’s plenty of ppl on here that may be able to put a little love your way.

Chin up n keep us posted.

Oh Man, that sucks. So sorry to heart about it. Dont lose hope as there are a few of us out there who do give a fcuk. Hope you are taking lots of nurofen for the pain. Although this wont seem much consolation at the moment, at least you were around after the accident to post.

It’s a busy bit of road, luckily you still have the bike because knowing the scroats around there they would’ve pinched it whilst you lay out of it.

Hey Kemp, that was some spill you went for for your first one!

I would’ve stopped and helped you without a second thought. Forget about stupid car drivers, they’ve got no initiative or common sense or thoughfulness - that’s why they’re in cages!!

Mend well, then come out with us - we’ll cheer you up!!

Mate,

I am so sorry to hear of your spill. Don’t give up get back on and keep riding.
Ignore the cage occupants, its like I keep saying if ya can’t ride, drive. If ya cant drive just get a bigger car or a 4x4.

Sorry to hear that mate. Hope you heal quickly. Doesnt surprise me no one stopped all feckers here!

flippin heck mate (no pun intended). best of luck on the recovery

if your tpft try and get some quotes on the repair. if you’re looking at most of the bike on cost at first glance i’d have a good look over the bike so see what is salvagable instead - you might be able to get some of the grand difference back that way and buy a new bike

So you were hit by two cars, first from the right then from the left and neither stopped? Failing to stop is an offence, so you should report it to the police. Fat lot of use that probably will be, as you probably won’t find any witnesses.

As for insurance, you’re on TPFT, so that’s irrelevant. Even if you were fully comp, the bike might be a write off, if the damage is the £3k the breakdown guy thought it would be.

hey paivi - the guy probably meant that the majority of insurers bundle in breakdown cover as part of the policy or give the option of a small surcharge - its normally very cheap to have it added on and its worth its weight in gold for bikes

Ouch!! Sorry to hear about your spill and hope you recover soon. The most important thing is that you’re OK and living to tell the tale.

You’re not wrong there, Johnny, I stand corrected. Unfortunately, most breakdown covers, be they through insurance company or not, exclude recovery due to accident. If you’re fully comp, the insurance will cover that, if not, they’ll go after the third party, if appropriate. If not, it’s out of your pocket. Mine didn’t even pay when somebody had tried to steal my bike and broke the ignition, so I had to get it recovered, as they had to use “specialist equipment” (i.e., a trolley under the front wheel to get the bike moving).

Hey guys, thanks for the kind words…

just came out of hospital, a few fractures & stitches & a big ego slap…first thing i did was look at my baby…DAMB!!! i think ive killed her…R.I.P trying to put some pics up but having a little trouble…

really feel like giving up riding but if i did i may aswell cut off my legs…coulldnt imagine not being on 2 wheels…but if i dont get back on very soon then im afraid i may never get back on…

Charleyb…it was at aprox 11.30pm on the juntion of old oak rd & uxbridge rd( the vale).

i know ive sounded off at the car drivers but a few bikes went past after i regained composure & didnt stop so i think its just londoners… trying to pick the bike up & off the pillers & then push it with flat tyres was agony & embarassing…& i was praying that someone would stop & help…NOT ONE!!! thank got im as strong as an ox

just looking through my insurance papers & it seems that ive got gold breakdown cover so how come i had to pay the £140 for them to get the bike home??

Whats the best action to take now? is it worth paying 3k to fix a 4k bike. i take it tpft does not cover me or the bike if no one else was involved so im fuc*ked… right in the pooper!! need to get a bike b4 sat cos i wanna go to brighton & meet some of you guys…

Anyhoo, at least up alive…& not one scratch on my lid…mmm!! odd!!

BE safe all!!

Alex

Blimey - A horror story !

First you’d better make sure you get your injuries treated, never mind the bike it’s only metal. You aren’t and injuries from the road can turn nasty if untreated (think of all the crap that could have been on the road and now in your wounds). Then there’s the possibility that they may not heal properly and be with you for the rest of your life.

Second - the bike. I was under the illusion that only fully comp had a recovery option but it will boil down to what YOUR policy says not ours. If you’ve paid for it and it is covered then the ins co will reimburse you providing you’ve got the receipt and it wasn’t your mate in a white van etc - I mean it was an official recovery dude which it sounds like it was. (And he knew Jay? I think it’s a worry if the recovery man knows you eh Jay? hehe)

Thirdly - car drivers. Seems you were unlucky there, but it’s not a great surprise in London. I’d be more surprised if someone stopped, didn’t rob you, could speak the lingo, and helped you to your feet. Really. Perhaps they thought they caused it and if it looked nasty they cleared off. Never mind the high probability that they were uninsured/untaxed/illegal cabbies/up no good given the time of the accident. Am I being harsh ? I lived in West London for 3 years and am using my plentiful experience of late night/ early morning traffic around those parts.

But get well soon, and I’m sure there’ll be plenty of advice from members about write-off / repair options.

Always sorry to hear this sort of thing, sound like you need someone with a practised eye to have a look at the bike and see what’s what.

3k to put right ? I’ve heard that before, and whilst perhaps not perfect, the last one of these I done, we made the bike functionally useable for £109, that gave the rider time to fix the cosmetics over a couple of months and he could still use the bike.

If you haven’t got anyone to give it the once over with a realistic eye, PM me and I’ll see if I can pop along and have a look for you.

Cheers Mark.

Hey Alex, good to hear you’re back and not too low! The news about the bike is bad, indeed…TPFT will not cover your bike for that, I’m afraid. Might be worth your while trying to find out why the wheel “popped”, in case there’s negligence from a garage… As long as nobody says you were wheelying at the time…

If however, you’ve got fractures, don’t rush into buying another bike, let yourself heal properly before getting back on.

Check what your breakdown cover includes, as I said, mine doesn’t include recovery due to an accident. Yours is probably the same.

Sorry to hear of your off mate, when I came off on some fiesel on the old kent road (and the copper behinf me on a harley) the cagers just drove round us as we were on the floor. Had to help each other get our bikes out of the road, only one pedistrian asked if we wanted a hand. It must be a London thing as when a friend had an accident in Southhampton everybody stopped to ask if he was alright. Not up here.

First things first:

Get to the bloody hospital…if I’m joining this thread too late. I hope you GOT to the hospital.

Secondly, report all details to the Rozzers…no police report means no insurance claims! You pay for those Wnakers and you DON’T want that.

Third get the bike fixed, get back on and show em you’re not going to take any crap like that lying down!

Fourth remember, they aren’t all like that. You just got unlucky. Most times someone will stop. London is full of assholes and you got a bad day, but its not always like that.

Fifth, get your ass to the next LB meet and rekindle the spirit amongst like mided people, then we’ll get into a massive herd and go and harass some taxis, white vans, and BMW driving business execs…until they cry and swear they’ll find the culprit and bring him to justice for you.

The world is full of plonkers, don’t let them wipe themselves off on you mate. Harden up and stand up again mate. You’re amongst friends here, they’re just dangerous losers. KNOW YOUR ENEMY! Treat him with caution and respect if only to keep yourself safe.

Hope this makes it past forum administrators for some of the more colourful language and imagery…but there’s a lot of truth to most of this…

{{Well it almost did hehe - A }}

i think i’d better check my policy on the breakdown - assumed getting hit by a car would count as being pretty broken down myself but now i’m not so sure…

the gits get you every which way dont they?

Hey there mate, i cannot beleive the fu****ing wankers, how can people in this day just not give a care in the world about another human being? im glad your injuries arent life threatening, thats the main thing!! that was a huge crash as well.

As for the bike, its gutting!, i was coming back from Camden last night when i nearly got rammed of the road by some stupid cow in a porsche!! that shook me up and i was carrying Col on the back too!!.

i think you ought to get the bike asessed and then work out what is salvageable and what you may get for it?!. I think by what you have told us from the damage that it may actually be cheaper to replace.

Hope you get better soon, take care, and dont worry too much, atleast your still here!!!
