If you’re caught speeding by a traffic cop with a laser gun, Do they still have 14 days to summons you to court?
If you weren’t cautioned when you were stopped then they have 14 days plus a day for the post to send you a notice of intended prosecution. If that’s too late you’re in the clear. If you were cautioned then they have 6 months to take the case to court and in fact you might not hear anything for 7-8 months as the court can take a few weeks to complete paperwork.
Thanks Mr! I’let my mate know. I’m not sure if he was cautioned at the time or not.
Apparently those laser guns were never developed/tested for bikes. I wonder how accurate they can be?

Lasers ARE tested on bikes and are accurate on them.
If you are stopped on the roadside and get a ticket then that’s the offence dealt with,
If you were outside the offer of a ticket then you would be reported for excess speed, this IS your ‘NIP’ and the next thing you hear is the date of Court.
14 day NIP’s are applied when it was not practical to stop you at the time or it is a van/camera that caught you in which case it’s 14 days DEAD not 14 days + postage and packaging or whatever…
sounds like you were stopped and were well in excess of the speed if no ticket given…therefore expect a court hearing.
It weren’t me Porkscratchin. Itwas my mates son. Thing is He got a 3 month ban last week and now this came through the post. God knows what will happen now.
So did he commit the offence after he was banned? :unsure:

I may well have been snapped on Vauxhall bridge road today - didnt even see the camera - and its digital too so no flash! Gonna be biting my nails for the next 14 days!

Quite a few digital cameras popping up now. I’ve spotted a couple of new ones on my route, so have to be extra vigilant as they are right where you would normally open a space between yourself and the following traffic, not racing for lights about to change, simply keeping a safe distance.
A slight deviation from the topic, but related none the less… There was an article on the covcer of MSN abaout a speed camera hidden in a horse box…Is this even Legal?

Now i know Jim mentioned sharpening your observation skills, but surely it would have to have a big shinny yellow jacket as all other cameras do?!
There have been several new digital cameras apperaing in and around Limehouse, all the shoebox jobs on 20/30ft poles… These are all yellow jacketed… however there are a few FRONT facing ones on Lover thames steet (Either direction) without any high viz markings… Anyone know the particulars regarding this?!
