correct tire pressure in PSI

hi guys,

I am struggling to check the pressure of my tires since I always used an analog, manual manometer in ‘bars’.
although I found several conversion rates… thought of asking here…

on my cbr 600 f, for daily commute and occasional ride out of the city…
how many PSIs in the back and in the front?
I have a 160 on the back.

thanks, it really helps!

I have no clue what pressure they are on now…

what year is your bike? that might make a difference.

set it to 32 front and back at least.

1993

32 PSI?
sorry just checking…
I was just able to find the digital ones at gas stations.

It should say the correct tire pressure on the swing arm. Mine is 36 and 42 as I recall. If you are looking for a conversion you can just type it into Google or go to the Digital Dutch Unit Converter.

I’ll check Joby, thanks!

Most Japanese bikes are 36 front and 42 rear. However Triumph state 34 front and 36 rear on my Daytona 675.

As far as I remember, the 42 rear on my Suzuki was for when you had a pillion… Otherwise it was 36

I wouldn’t really apply any generic rules to tyre pressures… your bike/ manual will have the correct settings.

And your bike/manual will be assuming you’re running the OE tyres - different tyres (particularly differently-shaped ones) will behave differently at different pressures. Generally, you want to be within a few PSI of the recommended pressure, but it’s not like a torque setting where it’s pretty crucial that it’s ‘right’ - there’s lots of scope for personal preference on top of different tyre behaviours. What the manual says will never be ‘wrong’ per se, but if you prefer it a couple of PSI down then that’s fine, too.

36 Front and 42 rear for me on a CBF500 with those tyres. But I do weigh 105kgs…

i always use to run 36f 42r for years and used to get a lot of rear punctures ,started doing trackdays last year and was advised to run 32 f 32 r on the track since then just kept them pressures for the road sometimes put 34 in the back and haven’t had any punctures since.never go anywhere near 42 in the rear again.

now, where is my picture of the can of worms?

Punctures is more about what part of the road you are using. If you ride the shoulders and down the centre lines, then you will be in the road grit and crap that gets thrown there by passing vehicles… I’d stick to manufacturer recommended pressures.
