Corner Shops Ain't What They Used To Be! (Pet Hates)

…there was a time when you went to a corner shop for what you needed because you felt the personal service and the fact that you were supporting local business was worth it, despite the generally higher prices you pay for the “convenience.”

Have been into four shops this morning for various bits, and every time the person or people behind the counter have been sitting there on the telephone talking a language that I do not recognise and hardly even looking up to see what it is you are buying or do so much as acknowledge your presence.

I must be getting old I reckon because a few years ago I would have just accepted this as the norm…

So what are your grumpy old men styles pet hates? You know, the things that have inexplicably started to bug the hell out of you despite their seemingly trivial nature…

no different in supermarkets tbh.

little bugbears - people who insist on having their meetings in shopp doorways, completely oblivious to the other people who are triyng to get past them.
Also people who are walking along, and just stop. coonts.

You do find the odd exception these days where the owners are very friendly and actually take the time to say “Good morning” or general niceties when shopping in a small corner shop.

However, I agree - they are few and far between these days…everyone is a grumpy sod. :frowning:

Personal bugbear is people who dither around supermarkets…“hmm, do I want this, do I want that, do I have any of these in the house?”. Little bit of preperation goes a long way you annoying fools!!! Get in, get out, that’s my philosophy…I frickin’ hate shopping.:stuck_out_tongue:

Good points guys!

And another thing:

Moped / slower riders in traffic on my daily commute.

If I was not in your mirrors a couple of seconds ago and have now appeared in them since you last checked that means I am going considerably quicker than you! Get outta my way! Why make life hard for both of us…

hehe, I was deliberately avoiding the driving pet hates as there’s FAR too many

Ha yeah I know we would need a whole seperate area of the site for that methinks!

I hate that…when your walking along and the person in front of you stops! old people are an exeption lol they just make me laugh i’m the sort of person who has a good ol chinwag with the pensioners at the bus stop!:stuck_out_tongue:
