Cops Programme on telly Wednesday evening

I have to say I thought the programme was very good and quite pro bike after the Audi bloke being told off. And if you feel the need to do excessivly break the speed limit - go on a track day! atleast you’ll only kill yourself!

They should have pulled him over anyway. I mean, a bloke driving a Lupo ? That’s just not on.

Great choice. In stealth black too.

I think the kid in the Lupo should have got a ticket for having had his hair cut by the council - did you see the styling?!!Put a lid on it!!!

Gotta agree with 2 things there - you should know what your bike sounds like doing 30mph in the gears you use for that speed, so not much need to look at the speedo. It’s no excuse to go caning around at 50 though, can’t imagine the peelers would have much sympathy with that. “Sorry officer, I went past that school at 69mph because I don’t believe looking at my speedo is safe to do whilst riding”. You could always use your powers of observation to make sure nothing is around before sneaking a quick peak…

And that TV prog, very intersting. Anyone who screams through 30’s in sleepy country villages deserves everything they get - he was lucky not to lose his license. I couldn’t believe his poor observation (and that of the Land Rover driver later on), VFR with a big police badge on the screen, white helmet with “POLICE” written on it. The Fuzz could see what he had for breakfast he was that close. Awesome.

i was hit by a pigeon near kings cross and was only doing 20mph and it really snaps ya head back
F"$^£ING rats with wings
Was a bit scared by the Busa as if i see a bike tearing up the tarmac behind me i assume they want to play
If it even looks like it may be the boys in blue then slow right up
In the winter i wear a hi viz jacket and on my FJR you would be amazed at how many brake lights i get to see

Just watched it - not bad really

although I take a bit of issue with the polcieman investigating the bloke that hit the horse, he seemed a little 'out to get’the biker, yes the skids were on the wrong side of the road, but even the horse rider said that the bike was on the right side of the road before he skidded…and he said the africa twin weighed 600kg!!! I dont really think so…

Also he said that crossing the white lines to give you more vision round a corner was driving without due care? This seems to be recommended at Bikesafes… Maybe because it was tight and blind you dont want to be doing that, but the copper just seemed to be a bit too negative for me.

The punichment was good in the end, attending a bikesafe for the rider.

I have to agree with Elad’s post as that copper got me shouting at the telly! He was adamant about the rider being on the wrong side of the road even when the horse rider said that he wasn’t! I did laugh at the “600kg bike” as he mentioned it a couple of times and I thought first time out it was a slip of the tongue!

I could have sworn I was taught on my Rapid Training day that it’s OK to cross the broken white line on a left hand bend to get better visibility. I even remember following my instructor who was overtaking a string of traffic on a left hand bend! From that point on I’ve done the same and now if I can get done for it I’m not sure I’ll bother!

Just the other day i was riding on the M20 when i caught a glimpse of a big upright bike and a hi viz. I just KNEW it was Old Bill and slowed down with my fingers crossed. JUST for a loon on a ZX14 to absolutely motor past.

not too sure about Laser guns but Top Gear did a test using roadside Gatsos and it was only after the car went through at near on 200mph the camera didnt flash

Yeah I noticed that too! - The white lines are broken for a reason! it means you can cross them. - and yeah, since when did the African Twin weigh 600kg? I thought the copper was a rider too! He didnt seem to know too much. Mind you, I think the rider got his own back by making out he couldnt remember anything but his lost wallet!! LOL!!! :D:) I’ll remember that next time im in a pickle!

I wondered exactly that ???

Did make me chuckle to see two big coppers struggling to lift that Africa Twin  - must be a used to lighter spostsbikes…I think he needs to be eating his porridge in the morning though

I feel sorry for the rider but he did seem to be travelling a wee bit to fast for the bend - he saw the horses and maybe paniced braked and locked the back up - the rear wheel locks easily on the Africa Twin which doesn’t help.

They do talk about crossing the white line on Bikesafe but they also talk about being able to stop in time and expect the unexpected too. Just one of those things I suppose as he was travelling to fast for the bend which is still driving without due care etc (I think) -Main thing is the bloke was okay, horse and rider was okay too and even though he was done he only had to attend a course so no points.

Ouch!!

Just watched it on BBCi

That poor blokes face:w00t: anyone remember Troy Corser getting a seagull in the moosh at Philip Island a few years ago? Didn’t half make a mess of his 916:hehe:

Why were all the baddies shown to be riding Vee Twins?:smiley:

I think there’s a big difference on being over the white line dependent on the bend you are on. Never sacrifice safety for a better view of the road.

Aye, I was going to say that, not even a fully laden GS is 600kg.

It’s the same with films mate - the best actors (The brits) mostly play the baddies - Must be jealousy I think!

I was stuck in a hotel room in Derby and watched it and i couldn’t believe the attitude of these coppers. I know the guy on the SP1 shouldn’t of been going that quick but in fairness it wasn’t like he was out of control.

They were waiting to catch somebody in most cases which pisses me right off. The whole nevermind all the thugs with guns and knifes lets just sit here and catch people speeding instead attitude about sums up the way it’s going in this country these days.

The black film thing was funny though on that land rover, but the copper was yet again a prick.

Police do themselves no favours whatsoever with that kind of program.

I might just race on tracks and drive a car on the road but the whole program annoyed me…don’t think i’ll bother giving it the ratings next time.

and to top it all off the copper had the cheek to say to that rider “you’re standard of riding, I have to say wasnt very good”

Errmmmmmm why, did he fall off? NO

Did he leave you for dust? YES

Did he crash or highside etc etc? NO!

I know ANYONE can speed in a straight line and hold on but these were winding country lanes so he did have a clue on how to ride!

and before everyone gets on the moral high horse - I know speeding is wrong but i dont have to agree with their tactics on how to catch people.

It’s no ‘RoadWars’ eh…

when are you on there Porky?
