Never had this problem. Mum died when I was 7, Dad had already shacked up with my stepmother and her kids and both would have been delighted if I disappeared under the wheels of an artic, so they positively encouraged me to do dangerous things (although at that time it was joining the army, not riding bikes). I rebelled and went to uni instead, much to their frustration  although I did take up skydiving, scuba diving, climbing, and motorcycling. Seem to have survived all that so far
I agree with Missing Droid - advanced rider training should go some way to allaying their fears
My mrs wanted me to give up after i had a major off in 2001 when i was in hospital, had operations and was off work for 5 months. But as soon as i was able to ride a bike again i bought one, it’s in the blood and you just can’t stop biking once you have started.
I agree with advanced training suggestions.
It’s normal that loved ones (be it parents, partners, kids, good friends, …) are going to worry. All you can do is comfort them by showing you are responsible and realise what you are doing. Taking advanced training is a great way of doing that.
Plus a major advantage is that you go from having to say “I’m going out for a blast with my mates” to “sorry, I would stay in, but I need to practice for tomorrow’s observed ride”. Works every time for me :w00t:
Another one for doing advanced training. Do a BikeSafe day with the Met Police and look into doing more training. Not only is it fun, but you do actually learn tools that help you enjoy riding even more! this will help to allay there fears. What do you ride anyhow, R1, GSXR, ZX10R, CBR RR???
