Whether you’re a fan or not I don’t understand why they would give it back to the beeb. ITV do a solid job of the coverage and as I recall the BBC stuff was garbage when they took it over. I’m not convinced that BBC Sport would know what to do with it.
Rubish! I am a fan, and I was thrilled by the news of F1 going to BBC. I don’t know what job they did before it went to ITV as I hadn’t moved to the UK yet, but all I know is ITV coverage is aweful! Commentary is ridiculous. Anybody notice how they used to get collective orgasms when Jenson Button would do something remotely good? Then they’d break him off completely as their orgasms shifted to the new wonderkid? While completely ignoring some other great rookie drivers?
That I can forgive them as it’s not any worse than the other UK tabloits, but what I can’t understand is the amount of mistakes they make and the amount of rubbish that comes out of them.
It’s gone so far that a lot of F1 fans watch the coverage on ITV while muting the sound and listening to BBC radio.
Oh, and anybody remember San Marinon GP a couple of years back, when they decided to have an ad break 3 laps from the end, possibly the 3 most exciting laps of the whole season?
Well done to the BBC for doing this, they can’t make a worse job of it than ITV!
Last week’s Melbourne GP was the most exciting race I’ve seen in 5 or more seasons! BBC = no adverts. Hopefully the commentary team will be left at ITV, so it’s win win.
If you don’t like the GP, what does it matter to you? Licence fees blah blah blah. I’d worry about the waste of money spent on “Songs of Praise” and “My Family” long before the GP makes the moan list.
And as this is bike talk… I’m buying a new bike next week, but I’m torn between two options. I really don’t know what to get, so I might actually toss a coin.
i went round to visit my mum last Sunday afternoon. After letting ourselves in, she was fast asleep in front of the telly with F1 blaring away on the telly…Says it all really;)
i agree, now a lot of the electrical gimmickery has been taken out of the sport, its gonna be far more of a visual spectacle and of course we’ve actually got a british guy in it who’s actually capable of winning stuff, so I’m just glad its not gone to Sky:)
