Close call

Happily trundling along in the bus lane riding home from London on Tuesday doing about 25mph and all of a sudden a vehicle pulls straight in front of me and stops suddenly on the left, nearly had me off.

What was the vehicle??? A POLICE MINIBUS. GGGGGGRRRRRRRR!!!

Glad it was only a ‘nearly’. It would have made an interesting argument if they’d had you off!

I hope you kicked it as you went passed

if i posted up every ‘nearly’ incident i have while commuting…well there would be alot of posts!!

Speaking of the boys in blue , whats the official line on jumping lights etc ? I Was out last night and we saw a police car jump the lights with no sirens or lights.

The driver actually looked like he was taking the Pi** and trying to catch up to another vehicle which made it over the lights !

Yeah, I could fill a lot of space too. But this was particularly galling as it was a police vehicle and was a really stupid move on its part.

should have told them so! hope you did! i would have!!!

there the worst ones for traffic offences any way…

well please your ok mate, I had a similar incident with the BTP who had actually seen me but still chose to go and nearly take me out.

Ahhh yes. Coincidentally (?) riding in bus lane yesterday an unmarked van ahead was trundling along the middle of the road doing about 0.5mph while the passenger spoke to a cyclist. As I rode carefully past in the bus lane I noticed the van was packed with WPC’s:w00t: At the next lights, rather than challenge their lack of blue lights, hazard lights, indicators or even brake lights I took the cowards way out and shrugged an apology to the (rather fierce looking) matronly PC.

Told a plod off once for talking in his mobile phone whilst driving, just told me to F off…good public relations eh!

watch out watch out theres a copper about lol keep it safe mark, where do you ad alison go on sunday as you went past? were having a group ride on the 8th of feb iv got the day off if you fancy it

I would have made him apologise - don’t care who it is.

Taking their number and sending a written complaint, I’m told, is a big issue for Plod? I recently told a copper that, having explained the concept of Obstructing Her Majesties Highway, I’d happily have his colleague arrest him for 2 offences. He backed down when I wouldn’t tell him what I did for a living…:alien:

Butttt, sometimes I’ve seen plod doing some really silly sh1t and then find out later that what they were doing was prolly the best way to do it!

If that’s the case for anyone, I’d suspect their hazard perception needs adjusting?..Quickly!

Deliberately run into it and then say “SMIDSY”?

Difficult one.

You’re right to complain, best in writing, but…

I did that some years ago and became the local target when the complaint was upheld.

Had to be squeaky clean for about a year after. All his mates were down on me for complaining. Got to the point I was carrying a camera 24/7.

Still needs doing. They are the enforcers iof the law, not above it, and some make mistakes, don’t we all, and some are dickheads.
