After locking up 3 joints in the spine I am off work. Can’t drive or ride (except very long extremely painful 25/30 minutes of riding to the Osteopath).
Stuck at home not able to do much other than lie down on the sofa with ice packs and watch TV, listen to the radio, and read for five days (can now sit as I am able to bend, yeah!)
With so much time watching TV I have come to the following conclusions:
Daytime TV sucks!
Some of the BBC news presenters are hot! Emily Maitlis, Natasha Kaplinsky, Louise Minchin, Julia Caesar and another one whose name escapes me have been the highlight of the last couple of days.
Most radio DJ’s need to shout the feck up and just play the music
I desperately need to get out of the flat and back to work or on the bike as I’m becoming a little peculiar.
That said managed to shuffle up to Infinity and get a few bits as well as some groceries. Quite a trip and needed the cuppa that I got from Jonny & Karen.
Seen the Osteopath twice, all joints are now free, but the impact on the surrounding muscles takes longer to sort out. Rest, ice (to deal with inflammation) and heat (to relax the muscles).
Got a PC with Guild Wars, but haven’t been able to sit up to play. Hopefully a couple more days and the muscles will be able to take a normal day.
Ive just had 6 months of work on the sick and I agree it drives ya mental, with luck am going back in next few weeks, gonna be weird driving a truck again, still bus drivers and caddies watch out
kevsta I had a TIA…mini stroke while driving truck, and have had to wait for all kinds of tests, didnt stop me riding bike though lmao jsut had to wait for all clear from consultant to be allowed back in hgv.
Well it has been happening on and off for four years. Nearly back to normal, managed to get on the bike today and some fresh polluted air. Tried the car, still hurts like hell (something pinching a nerve when sat in the car).
Finally cornered my doctor and forced the issue, had some x-rays and now need to wait for the report (hopefully it will show something).
Actually looking forward to commuting on Monday. A406/M4/A408, and then A312/A40 on the way home. Very boring but compared to laying down for a week (no cracks in the ceiling but 3 cobwebs that need cleaning), the TT.
If you are like that after only a week god forbid lol… You have my sympathy with your back.
When I broke my back (5+ vertebra) I was 13 yrs old and was bed bound for months, it took a year before I could walk or sit properly but in alot of pain. At that age it was great, no school but hospital schooling was crap… Not like today where the kids can lay in bed and get a mobile centre with Playstations, videos and dvds brought to their bedside, pfff I had none of that, just books and work to do, but at least I got out of doing Games & PE when I did go back
In this kinda weather you can feel where all the duff bones and arthritis has set in.
It might not have been so bad, but I couldn’t even bend enough to get a pair of trousers on. Not quite what I would do if I was confined to a bed for a couple of months.
no one thinks that bad backs really are…bad…but if you get one you never laugh again…I have had a bad back for many years…dont do a thing for it just suffer the pain…sometimes…admitedly very rarely I cant walk for a few moments but I always fight it and just grin and bear it…then take all those damn pain killers to make sure I dont get a spasm…which is the real hell of back pains…I feel for you…good luck with it and i hope you find your solution…chiropractors total waste of money in my experience…made me worse…
Back spasm are painful, had my fair share. Locking two vertebrae wasn’t all that painful, just couldn’t move at the pelvis, couldn’t even sit down. The trapped nerve was hell. Muscle spams after the Osteopath unlocked the joint tolerable, just have an annoying nerve pinch going into the groin area and down the hamstring. So something is not allign correctly. X-Ray I hope will show something.
Heard varying things about Chiropractors, my parents swear by there’s, however everyone else I know complains about them. Would certainly recommend a good Osteopath.
yes heard that before, mixed messages… I just go for a swim, try to play squash and then dance for three hours…that usually frees up the muscles and I am fine for another few months…but the spasms have had me in tears…so too the Green Mile film first time i saw it, so maybe I am just a cry baby…
