I am going to organize a charity ride in December for the Little Havens children’s hospice.
The ride will be a toy run, and instead of donating money, I would ask that each rider purchase a brand new toy, wrap it up and write on it if it’s for a girl or boy and the age for the child.
Little Havens will then distribute these gifts to needy unwell children - most of which cannot even afford medical assistance let alone presents and Christmas.
Any ideas on where to ride from/to are welcome,
Come on people this one’s for the children…who’s with me?
I’m a devoted supporter of Little Haven, monthly donation set up and won long weekend away to Gibrator at their last summer ball so count me in for the ride and a few pressies for the kiddies for sure… hopefully have passed my test by then as well so should be able to go on motorways… woo hoo! Great idea Bman!!
3/. Would it be possible to just get the toys, take them with us, and actually US go and hand them out to the kiddies? (permission from parents and staff of course)? Maybe we could even show some our bikes, let them sit on them etc?..dunno just an idea…that way we can sort of spend some time with them too? doubt they get that kind of buzz much?..and would be great for us too, cos its like, once we drop the pressies etc, we are on our way…THEY dont know whos giving them the toys etc…i always feel kind of let down when that happens…cos you dont get to see the little faces etc…
Just an idea thats all, if cant be done, then im still in… but remember the Ace Cafe do this every xmas too, so dont clash with dates?
Good idea though…anything like that is good idea. Shame we dont do it any other time, not just xmas…

If they are likely to be in a hospice over Christmas they are probably too ill for any of the above
Cool, good response and replies so far, and I only posted this - this morning.
I knew I could rely on you all, thanks.
I was thinking about Saturday 13th December (the Ace toy run is on the 14th) would people be ok with this? - Little Haven’s need time before Christmas to organize distribution of the gifts.
once I get some feed back and ideas of where you want to ride ( remember it will be December! cold and possibly damp) it would be great to end the ride at the Hospice and have a bit of a bike meet, hot drink and feel like we all achieved making these kid’s dreams come true this Christmas.
Maybe we could meet at Borough Market or the Ace? let me know what you want to do and I will put the details together and post it as a ride out in the ride out section.
