Chinook!

Just heard a loud thumping in the sky, then the sound as if a helicopter was in the garden - looked up and a huge Chinook was overhead, not a thing you often see in Wembley:w00t: It headed off towards Central London - anyone know what’s going on?

I saw one over Regents Park also !

We had one come over us just after my exam today, stupidly low. Lotsa thock-thock-thock-thock

T’was a Special Forces one, could tell because it had enlarged fuel tanks, made it look really fat.

I’ll go hang my anorak up now.

This one was very low and much wider than they look in pictures.

i see george bushes air force one plane with about 15 fighter escort’s wile working on a job near hanger lane.i had pictures on my work phone

you gotta love fighter jets

I see one atleast once a month i think they land at battersea heli pad or they fly past my work as a flight path

A regular route is over the Dartford bridge heading south. Some stop off near my work. Biggin Hill. Great sound. Even better…Spitfire.

I work right next to the airport and last week a Spitfire flew ridiculously low over our work :D:D performed a tight left bank and promptly landed. Brilliant. I believe it was the Ray Hanna Mk9

They’re great aren’t they. You occasionally see them flying over the Thames, right through Central London. I find myself just staring at them as they go by, in the same way I used to just stop and stare at Concorde :w00t:

I saw it today while working in Hackney downs park.

Used to be regular visitors to Woolwich barracks and I got to recognise that sound five minutes before they came into sight. Yup, they are big and they are noisey.

When the RA moved out of Woolwich a year or two back, they used these things as flying cranes a couple of times. One time I stopped at the end of the parade ground to watch the departure. I could feel the car suspension compress as it flew over at 50 (?) feet.

Lovely heli and lovely sound  can hear em from 3/4 miles away :w00t:

dont often see them down this way though :frowning:

they often fly over my way-east of london- at least once a month or so…love the distinct sound of the rotor’s thumping…

see these 4 in formation last year…awesome site:cool:

a couple of years ago their was a couple of apache’s flying around lewisham looking for some thing.did any one from the south east see this?

when i was in isreal you ofter see f16’s and apache’s,the f16’s would often fly low and break the sound barrier :w00t::w00t::w00t:

last time i was on a nook was when i was leaving northern ireland…

you think the’re loud outside…try being thrown around inside one…the pilots think they’re flying lynxs:D…

smiled:).

Seen fighters on manouvers in some of the places i have fished, specially the fens, quite awesome sight when they come down low.

I watched a cool programme about a chinook, had seen action in the falklands, iraq and now afghanistan, Bravo Number 58?

They didn’t see much action from the bottom of Atlantic on the deck of the Atlantic Conveyer;)

They often come into the City and land at the Honarable Artillery Company’s place just between Moorgate and Old Street.

We see them a reasonable amount but everyone still goes to watch them.

i know, this one was saved, i believe it was on a mission at the time of the AC goign down;)

See them over my house quite often as I’m on the fligth path for RAF Northolt, see loads of interesting things go over, red arrows, lear jets and massive old style bomber planes, some of them go over so low and are so loud they shake the house!!

I had to run out of them a fair few times…

The vibrations gave alot of dudes erections so when they were told to run out, some of the instructors would have a smile on their face:D
