Do what the professionals do. Lift it a bit with a BIC pen so your fingers don’t get dirty. Squint at it with your tongue sticking out the side of your mouth. On the side stand. And make a judgment call.

According to that cbr600rr manual they are adjusting the chain on the side stand…that’s a little tricky …for me it’s all done on a paddack stand…New chain and sprockets done yestetday

Best advise is probably to go by the manufacturers specifications for your particular model, noting its not an exact science since most manufacturers recommendations are +/- 25mm or so. That said in real life chain adjustment its all about alignment. With the swinging arm parallel to an imaginary line drawn between the centres of the front and rear sprockets, subject to any offset there may be between the centre of the front sprocket and the pivot point of the swinging arm. Rotate the rear wheel to find the chains ‘tight spot’ then adjust the chain slack accordingly. The amount of chain slack required being dependant upon the amount of travel, compression and extension, in the rear suspension.
