Just a reminder to check the expiry date on your photo card driving license.
The photo must be updated every TEN years so does yours need updating in 2010?
The DVLA are supposedly on top of the situation and will contact you two months before renewal - I know some people that didn’t get this notification and the renewal pack in time.
Here’s the thing, if you are stopped by the plod, you could be fined upto £1000 for having let it expire.
at £17.50 a time that’s 1 million licences a year, if each one has to be replaced every 10 years it means therefore that there’s approx 10 million driving licences in total. Surely there’s got to be at least double if not treble that amount of licence holders in a nation of 60 million people ?
So far more likely to be £1 billion+ over 25 years I’d say.
Unless of course by ‘earn’ they mean just their profit ?
If you’re going to send your licences away to DVLA then be warned they make HUGE mistakes. They can delete and even add categories to your licence. They have been known to change your manual car licence to automatic if you pass the PCV test.
Basically, DVLA are naff…
Anyway, here’s some info for your if you need to update your licence…write to the following addy…
Provide your name, date of birth and the address shown on your driving licence with a cheque for £5. May be wise to also enclose your driver number. Ask for a copy of your driver licence record.
You will get back a computer printout acknowledging your request for the info and showing a copy of your photo, all your categories, dates you passed your test etc, etc.
Takes about 4 weeks. Handy to stash away for the future.
