Lot of talk at the min about the police crack down on motorbikes. Seems many counties have started a stop and check program. When talking to a friend at the weekend he was sying bikes are being picked up on the police ANPR system as not on the insurance database leading to them being pulled over. He was threatened with having his bike confiscated because it wasn’t showing as having insurance, took a lot of persuading and several phone calls to prove it was insured.
Thought, given the above, this site might be useful to check out your bike before the police do.
A while ago I saw this MID thing and thought I will just check. S’funny when I typed in my reg number it came back and said it did not recognise it. And that I had typed in an incorrect number. Which I found a bit wierd as I bought the bike from new and have retaxed it twice with the DVLA online facility so if it’s good enough for them - then???. I emailed the MID and said wass up Mr MID?. There was no reply from them, still isn’t. I talked with my insurance company and they checked and said yes my details were on the MID. Hmmm… I tried again last week and it still would not accept my reg number. So obviously there are problems with the MID.
The words **** up brewery couldn’t organise in come to mind.
Possible I suppose, after all it is a computer and how many of them have you known to work 100%. End of the day, it’s a way to do a quick check. If it throws up a problem at least you can follow it up before plod does eh.
& if you’re knocking about on a bike with a foreign plate, yet you’re a GB resident then you’re breaking the law. The most liberal interpretation of the law would allow you ride an EU registered vehicle for 6 months.
Plus the onus is on you to prove how long the vehicle has been in the country, if you cant then you stand a good chance of having it seized.
