Chains question

Hi everyone,

Need to buy a good chain for my bike but also the one which can be carried around with reasonable convenience.

Therefore, based on all the recommendations I read here, am choosing between Almax III (seems to be safer, but very heavy) and Abus Granit City. Have roughly £100 budget…

So was wondering, if anyone knows, is Almax significantly more heavy then say Abus or which chain you would recommend with a reasonable balance between quality and actually being able to carry around when riding etc (have BMW with no underseat space unfortunately)…

Thanks.

The Almax Series III comes with a Kriega US-10 tailpack - it fits on my SV650 with no problems.

at a guess i would say they are heavier, if you see 1 you will understand why. lol

Well, normally by girlfriend occupies the back seat, so not sure would be able to put it in the bag there…

Do you have a rear rack on the bike - it can fit there. The Almax is heavier than the Abus - by quite a big margin.

I use an Almax in the garage, but I think it’s too heavy to take around.
You have to see/weigh one before to know. They’re a huge amount heavier than “normal” chains, but then they’re much stronger.

Where do you live? If you’ve never seen an Almax and you’re in SE London, you’re welcome have look at mine before deciding?

when i need my chain out and about i put it in my tank bank.

Yep, us too. Got to be better than having your bike nicked ;0)

Tank bag for us too.

I have the almax at home but Vishas disc brake for office… No where to chain it to nr work - so chain is just aa heavy disc lock anyway!

Wouldnt fancy carrying an Almax 1.5m!!! But still would buyone for home use - even if you get another for out and about - they are super strong - gives a lot of peace of mind!!! Thats worth the extra money!
