Chain + thumb

I was cleaning my chain on sunday and you guessed it my thumb got jammed between a sprocket and the chain

my thumbnail is now pierced/broken but that was a good thing as there was no presure buildup.

leason learned! turn wheel in opposite direction

Ouch you are lucky there - people have lost fingers in that situation…hope it gets better soon,

Also a good reminder to not do this with the engine running!

sh1t!! yeah im fine, have total use of it from the next day!

up on the paddock stand in gear wheel spinning at a guess?

how i did it?? no… im not that blond  on paddock, engine off, spining wheel with one hand rubbing cloth with other :pinch:

you say that but plenty of people have!

Ouch, sounds nasty - at least the finger is still intact!!!

Of course if you’d fitted a Scotoiller, this would never need happen … :Whistling:

:D:hehe:

i actually saw (&felt) the benefit of a scotoiller!!

Hooo Hooo. I came close to that before as well. I learn the tricks. This after, the Bike on centre stand, first gear, idle speed, using a good chain cleaning spray and a nice brush to clean the chain, so fingers well away from the **“danger” ** zone! Now have a nicely cleaned/lubed chain with no damage to myself.

Good that you were just spinning wheel by hand, but still damn painful!

Oh i bet HAHA

i know a guy who did this fireblade in gear ticking over up on paddock stands, lubing chain his index finger got dragged into the chain and onto the sprocket, which managed to lock the back wheel and stall the engine, so now his finger is jammed in the sprocket and the bike is stuck in gear, had to call for help so someone else could pull the clutch in and roll the back wheel back round… not a pretty sight.

It’s at times like that that you know your swearing vocabulary is just NOT rich enough - you just end up mouthing “oh, oh, oh” silently cos you can’t think of anything bad enough to yell.

Now there’s a challenge.Panagiotis, here’s your sign

Lucky it wasnt worse mate.

Surprised we haven’t had the WD40 to clean/lube chain arguement yet. Must be at least a few weeks since the last one:D

Que?

Go ahead and ask who uses wd40 to clean/lube their chain and wait for the fallout  Failing that, use the search fuction. The long and short is people cant agree on how good/bad it is for the rubber rings or somehting or other.
