Can anyone recommend a decent chain riveter for under £100. There seem to be a million and one of the same thing on ebay for different prices, so if anyone has got one from a particular seller that they’d recommend, let me know!
I’ve used the same motion pro chain breaker/riveter for a few years now and changed loads of chains of different sizes with it.
It’s not the sturdiest/flashest riveter going but it does the job and is versatile (has fittings to break and join various drive chain sizes as well as cam chains).
never dealt with them so can’t recommend or dis.
M&P sell them for £49.95 in their catalogue last time I looked - I can’t account for such a big discrepancey in price - although M&P are good at supplying spares if anything breaks.
just don’t go for a motrax one. they snap easily
thanks guys, suspicious of all of them really. the ones in the case all look the same and are probably made in the same factory etc, same with the DID imitation cage type. may aswell buy a £30 and see what happens!
The one I use has worked successfully on loads of chains.
if you got the money this is the one i use… its mega!

I’m with ya there NinjaJunkie… ive got the same one, done a good few chains with it…have heard if you dremmel the old links off they last even longer…:Wow:
I’d like to get a dremmel - but at the moment I just file the head off of the rivet and push it out with the tool to split the chain.
Same as me man, for bloody years i use a lump hammer one side and a ball hammer to do the rivet !
Don’t waste money on a Dremel. Most over rated/over priced piece of sh… stuff I’ve ever bought.
Assuming you don’t want the chain for re use, the 115mm ankle grinder and a piece of scrap wood is the best chain splitter. An old flat iron, a centre punch and a 16 oz ball piene hammer does the new rivet.
That said, the right tool does make life a whole lot easier.
