CCM R 30 SUPERMOTO

Anyone know anything about these bikes?? They look quite good and they seem to be going cheap as 2nd hands… even New the price ain’t too bad.

Very good bikes for the money…I have the Dual Sport version.

I had a R30 ,lots of fun, soooki DR650 engine so should be reliable ,dont forget to buy lots of loctite though as mine seemed to shed parts like a good un .

I was on a rideout with two. One standard 660 engine with racing cams. One 710 big bore kit with racing cams. Both shift very well, but run out of puff at higher speeds. Still, huge fun! As mentioned, get lots of loctite and check the wiring loom over very carefully and make sure all connectors and clean and tight! Very good support from CCM community website.

I had one a while back and loved it for its handling but it was out of puff at about 90mph:w00t:

It would embarrase all sports bikes on B road twisties for sure. I would happily buy another so long as i have similar bikes to ride with otherwise i think you would get frustrated with the lack of power.

ive got one ( blue one in pic above ), had it just over three years and 14000 miles, all its needed are a new chain and sprockets, a new clutch cable and a set of fornt pads, suzuki lump so 3000 mile services (i do oil and filter every 1500) as mentioned above great fun not as focused as the harcore smoto`s but prob much easier/cheaper to live with & maintain , its a big single so it eats back tyres & things will come loose, even with some vsimple mods they should pull to the red line in top @ 105ish may be a bit slower top end than some but tbh if you need anything over 80 on a regular basis dont get any smoto

also as above the ccm forum is a wealth of knowledge , and many on there will go above and beyond to help

some people give em a hard time for build quality . being heavy, being slow etc but in the real world they are pretty good at what they do , genuine ccm parts can be a bit dear , but in a lot of cases alternatives can be found

if it got nicked ( and yes they do - quite often ) or crashed id replace it with another no second thoughts

see if you can blag a go on one and make your own mind up

Yup been on many a ride with Gary on his CCM,and as he says he wouldnt hesitate buying another (me also ) Gary has kept my CCM on the road after many a bits have have said goodbye, top man .

One thing to check on before buying ,is the cylinder base gasket ,early ones where prone to leaking .

As makman said above re: the loom.

This was mine after the last rideout (With Buck & Gary actually!!)

Got me the 260 miles we did that day…but failed to start 2 days later…no suprise :w00t:

Hi there…

I too owned one of these (2003 model in blue). Great fun to ride on twisties but take it near an open road and it will sh!t it self… You’ll also only get about 90 miles out of a tank (on a good day). Also make sure you get someone to inspect the rear suspension very well as to replace the ccm standard will cost you near enough £700… I learnt the hard way… I bought the bike in Dec 07 (£2500) and went to trade it in March 08 (£800)and when the guy at the bike shop looked at the suspension, he said that I was lucky to be alive!!! Something about the rear suspension just about to sheer off. I dread to think what would’ve happened at full wack (85 mph) and the suspension pinging off…

Don’t know if it was a one off with mine but it looked like it had been put together by a five year old… build quality was iffy to say the least…

Like I said, great fun to ride but check it over very carefully… Or get a KTM :w00t:

Nice one, looking for a commute bike and some fun:) and it looks good and it is cheap, compared to other bikes I see around.

Guess I will be keeping my eye on them.

paid £2500 and traded in for £800 ?? - dude i thinkyou got shafted at both ends - look on ebay if yours would only do 85 it must have been geared for it or had some other issues , i agree they dont like open roads what moto/moto owner does both the rear shock and the loom are known issues , the shock issue is an argument between white power & ccm with neither admitting blame both saying it is down to the eye of the bottom shock not being kept greased and seizing up causing the eye of the shock itself to crack , i know of five that have cracked and one that has actually broken out of a forum with 755 members , again look on ebay these can be had for around £65 , the loom is mostly ( except adzski )where it goes around the headstock and most cases can be prevented purely by wrapping it with extra leccy tape

£800 i would have walked across broken glass for that !I think these bikes has been around for long enough for any unknown issues to come up now,if its cheap enough …get it ,if not let me know whos selling and i wil have it

well maybe I can get one in London and one of you guys can pop along if you free.

Thanks for letting me know about the wiring and suspension, I can ask that and have the guys answer and if I win the bid and go see it is **** even on eBay I can walk off… can argue with eBay that he told me it was good.

So what causes the wiring to do that??? seems kinda harsh… isn’t that something the manufacturer should get pulled for? and they should fix it??

have a look and an ask on herehttp://ccmriders.co.uk

there will be someone local to you willing to help out , might even sell you one that has known history

Oi …GET BACK TO WORK ! :stuck_out_tongue:

work ? whats work ? aint done much of that today
