CBT Q'tion

(pls don’t laugh) lol

I’ve taken my CBT on an automatic Piaggio Zip 50cc moped. Can I ride a Manual 125cc bike? hides behind the sofa

if ur 16 u can still ride a manual 50cc if ur 17 u can still ride a manual 125cc on a cbt.:stuck_out_tongue:

I love u dan! i’m 27! wooooohoooooo!, but that doesn’t mean i won’t go for the full bike license!

Unless there is a mark on your CBT certificate saying otherwise, yes you can.
Although there is a another technique to learn with a manual.

It may be a good idea to return to the training centre to be taught by a professional how to ride a manual geared bike (if you don’t already know).

you should be ok.

on my certificate of completion there are 2 boxes at the bottom; one for manual and one for automatic. Only the ‘automatic’ box is ticked?

lol carm down dude.:hehe:

yer mine was the same many moons ago but my insurance company said it dont matter? i got a friend who is a instructor i can ring her and double check.

her words to me lol hope it helps.

On the CBT certificate, it simply states what bike you took the course on, either manual or automatic, this doesnt mean you are restricted to any paticular transmission type.

Sorry guys 4 all these panic Q’s…its just that at work today this guy who works with me he’s got the same bike that i’m after (Honda CBR 125R) says you can’t drive a manual 125cc if you’ve completed a CBT with an automatic!..

Big thx to Dan! who’s helped me in the past few days!

yes u can lol.

I originally done my CBT on an automatic but went back after a years riding and took the manual CBT, purely to get familiar with manual bikes before taking the DAS test. It’s always worth getting a bit expert training.

There’s only 1 cbt. After completing it, you can ride manual or auto.

Good advice to go back and do a couple of lessons on a geared bike, if you haven’t already ridden one. It’s quite different riding a geared bike to a scoot.

+1

As well as Job No1 i have job No2 which is a motorcycle instructor.

Your CBT will cover you for your 125.

As rightly said the ‘auto’ box that was ticked is merely the type of machine you took it on.

To lose the plates you need to take the A1 light motorcycle test.

I agree with the above about going back to learn to change gear. If you jump straight on a 125 then you’re going to be focussing too much on the ~clutch/blip throttle/change gear/clutch/feed power~ process and not focussing on the road

yer but u will get use to it my friend dave has also got a cb400 automatic when i ride that i keep going to do all that but after a few miles you get use to it…
