CBT & geared conversion ???

wow great find i’m going to look into that, by the looks of it there is a place in crystal palace to which is the cbt place i wanted to go if its the right one.

excellent

Just booked a free lesson with these guys up at crystal palace, just waiting for a call now to get a date and time should be good let you know how that goes…:D:P;)

i had a similar story when i went to do CBT near highbury&islington station, woman in there brainwashed me into taking up automatic…and walking away all confused not knowing what just happened, then i spoke to my boyfriend at that time and he told me it’s a load of bollocks, so next day i turned up asked for my money back. I don’t see what’s so difficult about gears you just move them up or down depending on speed you’re doing ( just make sure as you go down the gears you release clutch smoothly and rev a bit before you do, as if you don’t you will lock up a rear wheel, which is what i used to do, it’s ok to f*ck it up on 125 but it becomes very dangerous on a big bike )

so get training straight away on a geared bike, sod everyone who tells you otherwise. also you’re very right in not choosing metropolis as they use school playground which do not have sufficient space and you’re restricted on time spent there.

i know you live in sw but if you really want to have a large are to practice in then i would seriously suggest you cardrome in romford, i know i’ve mentioned them before, but they’ve got great facilities…they are great for passing your CBT but once you come to doing your full test you should search for cheap quotes

Thanks for that do you have an more details on the Romford place I’ll have a look at them.

I have been given a date for that 1 hour free lesson so that will be taking place next week Saturday at 1:30. Loomi g forward to it should be good. Quict pleased with how fast it was sorted to no messing about.

hiya, I did my cbt at Get on a twisty and then was driven bats by the fact I did not want to pay for the conversion and could not test ride any 125’s that i wanted to buy!!

Get run a very slick operation but it is in my small opinion its a money machine.

I ended up randomly calling schools until Shaun at with http://www.1stplaceridertraining.co.uk/ just gave me a free afternoon on his pad on a geared bike to help me out, i ended up doing my das with them… they do their cbt’s on geared bikes and are great … well got me through…

stick to your guns and do it on a geared bike!!

I did mine on a geared 125cc a real piece of crap…we were all standing around waiting for them to unload them and there was a little yamaha roadster and we were all saying “Wonder who is getting that” and guess what it was me.

I still passed my CBT and if you can’t get the hang of a geared bike then you should take the bus.

BM

no bus for me mate, im getting the hang of it… no question about that

asoe209 I’d find a new trainer.

The worst co-ordinated young female I know got the hang of a geared 125 on a Sunday morning. Passed her CBT on the Tuesday, did a direct access course the next week and passed on the Friday.

She now rides an automatic Vespa but that’s just a bit of irony. (And earning NCB on the cheap)

lol, talk about getting it done quick. well i have no trainer yet but its all good. will find some where in the next few weeks and get this ball rolling.

If you’re looking for a place in romford, check these guys out

I did my CBT there knowing NOTHING about bikes, couple of months later I did my A2 there aswell and now I have a full license (unfortunately with 33bhp restriction).

I found these guys to be really really helpful, especially the instructor Kev

thanks, not really looking for some thing in that area, but just looking at details of places at the mo.

Sorry, have to call BS on the ’ auto trained CBT rider causing an accident ’ thing.

I did my CBT on a Piaggio NRG. I was shown how to ride a geared bike by a friend and then did my DAS when I learnt how to pass the test.

If you can find a friendly biker to help you to learn how to handle gears (not that hard) you should be fine.
My CBT certificate does **not ** show that I was **not ** entitled to ride a geared bike - check with your training centre about the current validity and practice about this.

asoe209…

I’m an instructor at Get Bike and we are more than happy for you to do your CBT on a geared bike.

Get it booked… We’ve got spaces currently on my CBT starting at 0800hrs on Thursday and Friday…

Iggy
