CBR600RR Tyres

My 09 CBR600RR has the OEM Bridgestone tyres on it. The rear tyre is spent so I’m looking to repalce it. What do you think I should do?Another Bridgestone sports tyre and keep the front till it wears outReplace the rear only with something elseReplace both with Road Pilot 3sReplace both with something else

I only use the bike for riding out. I might do a bit of touring towards the end of the summer but essentially I polish the bike and ride it when it’s sunny.

Michelin Power Ones…

If your after a cheap set of tyres. Call AC BIKES in dartford he sells good part worns…

Hi mate,

I felt the stock dunlops were Rubbish on my RR, i replaced mine with corsa 3’s i really rate them on the RR… great tyre.

The bike hadles so much better with these and give you lots more confidence to in corners.

At the time i used the bike in the same manner as you… just weekend rideouts, i got a fair ammount of road miles in then got into track days so was using it on road and track. That first set of corsas lasted me 10 trackdays plus a load of road miles!

(to be fair the rear was very worn out when i changed it but the front was still okay-ish)

ive got 2ct on mine and i wouldnt change them

Erm. You didn’t mention if either or both tyre is worn out!

I use mine all year round (GSX650F) so I got some Bridgestone BT-023s… They’re a sport/touring tyre, but my dealer says he fit’s them to GSXR thousands all the time… Ron Haslam uses them on his bikes at his race school, so if they’re good enough for Ron and all that. People say you can get 10,000 miles out of them!

£240 fitted

I bought a Bridgestone 016 in the end. It was the same as what was on there to begin with. They had some good reviews on the internet. Plus I don’t do very high mileage so I don’t need one that will last 7000 miles. Think I’ll scrub it in tomorrow.

Yeah… Probably the best way to go! I’d go for sticky over high mileage if I could… Hoping to have a bit of both out of mine!

Got them scrubbed in today nicely

Crikey, I only got about 3500miles from BT023s when I had the CBR600f.

I thought the Bridgestone tyres were crap.
They are good enough for Ron Haslam because they are standard issue on Hondas and he is hardly going to go against Honda who provide him cheap bikes for the school or actually buy decent tyres.
I changed to Pirelli Rosso IIs most recently and think they are better than the BTs or 2CTs I had on my RR.
Get some decent tyres next year Joby!

stock OEM rubber is rubbish . Not the same as replacement rubber . I removed my oem bridgestone’s from my cbr 600 rr 1 week from new . I went for the dunlop sportsmarts . best road tyre i have ever used…( does track well aswell)

Also sports rubber degrades over time , Well all rubber does but more important on sports bikes . I never keep the same rubber more than 24 months as it will start to harden . so on an 09 bike i would replace both …

sportsmarts are awesome…

decide to giv Michelin Pilot Power 2CT a go for my next set

I need a new front, I’m contemplating going for another 016 to match the almost new rear. Any further advice.

Oh and the stars are becoming alligned with regards to getting this out witin the next few weeks so look out for a flying sun flower.

Hang on, wasn’t your front shagged on the Wales trip?

keep it a matching pair and get a 016 on there

Yes it’s at the wear limit. It didn’t need a new tire to sit in a garage for six months which is why I’m sorting it out now.

Ahhh.

How much tread is there on the rear?

Rear is almost new because the puncture I sustained at the H cafe wrote off the rear tyre. The rear has about 300 miles on it.

Then the best would be to get a front to match.
