CBR cuts out from cold

Recently I got my bike brakes fluid changed by Honda and also they adjusted my idle speed to about 1600rpm, when the bike was warm.

My bike has a Scorpion can, which I was told doesn’t help the rpm as they move between 1500-1600rpm.

When I start the bike in the morning it starts first time, sometimes with choke and then run for about 30 sec and when the rev drop it cut outs.

I have to run the bike with the choke on or rev the engine from cold for a few min to stop the bike cutting out when idle.

But once the bike is really warm its fine.

I adjusted the rpm when the bike was warm to idle at 2000rpm but it still cuts out when starting from cold and the rev drop to 1500rpm and then its cuts out.

When the bike is cold the rev are at 1500rpm and once it is warm it rev at 2000rpm.

I did change the spark plug to one of those iridium (increase power which I have noticed) ones and also adjusted the value clearance.

I tired to start the bike with full choke, and even the choke pully drops slowly even when I hold the choke up fully it was idle and then cut out.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

put some PRO FST in your petrol get the right amount and it might clear this problem…

I had this allllll winter with my GPZ apparently quiet common on older kwaks and if you have a choke I’d imagine yours is not a new bike…

More details required…What model and year CBR is it…Carbed or Fuel Injection.

Could be throttle synchronisation and or valve clearances need checking.

Its a CBR 125, 04 Plate Carb model the valve clearances was checked 500m ago.

Thanks

Where can I get PRO FST from?

Just google it and it comes up in google produt search - I just googled it to find out what it was

ok… sounds like it may well be running lean - 1600 rpm idle is a tad high
If it runs fine on the choke, then obviously a richer mixture is helping it.I’d turn the mixture screw out a 1/4 of a turn at a time to see if it improved matters in the first instance.

Thanks

Should this be done from cold?

to get idle speed etc set properly, the motor should be at normal running temp - not much of a help when you’re testing for cold running… so I’d just tweak the mixture before starting and see if it helps .Like I say, take it a 1/4 of a turn at a time (in fact, it would be worth checking the setting it is at now and compare with the owners manual if you have it)
