Have always been around motorbikes from a young age, motocrossin and also quad biking. As ive just turnt 17 im thinking of buying meself a Honda CBR 125R.
What are these bikes like? are many accessories available for em? Do any of you guys ride them?
Any good points and bad points?
It’ll be a brand new bike so dont have to worry about looking for things going wrong with it!
Keep it standard, learn how to ride it properly, save hard for a year and after that buy a 250 or 400 after passing your restricted license.

Just my 2p’s worth but its upto you. I presume you want to step up to bigger bikes? If so its not really worth accesorising unless your going to keep the bike a very long time. All the best.
Snap makes a very good recommendation, and it’s one I’d also back. Bikes are always a money pit, so be prepared to spend money, regardless of what you go for, and what you plan for. It’s a great thing, road riding, and there’s so much to learn, though after a while, you’ll be looking to upgrade, and Snap is right-on with the restricted license suggestion, and bike options. Once you’re on a 400, or the like, there’s a whole wealth of options open to you, like trackdays, advanced riding, trips abroad, etc.
As far as regarding what bike etc! Ive looked at the review and was pleased with it. I was originally going to get a gilera, but dont like the idea of a scooter. Would much rather prefer the honda!
Ive just turnt 17, and about to take my CBT. I thought this meant that i could only ride a 125 and for 2 years before i can move up? am i right in thinking this? or do i have false info somewhere along the line?
http://www.malplates.co.uk will make you up a smaller plate (don’t forget to get londonbikers.com added as a tagline ), you can either modify the stock plate holder yourself (hacksaw), or perhaps buy an aftermarket one, though I don’t have any details, I’m affraid.
I don’t want to suggest you break the law and get a smaller plate, but it’s clear from experience, that you’re unlikely to get a tug, but seeing as you’ll be starting out, I’d recommend not straying from the letter of the law.
But if i were to get a plate, looking on that site you posted for me, what is a ridichiolous size plate? ie… IF you were getting one, seeing as you have been riding bikes 10x’s longer then me what would you choose?
The honda is very slimline. So with the width of the standard plate. it looks rather stupid! want more of the sporty look! not the nerdy one!
i personally like the aprilia rs 125… its a better looking bike i reckon…
the smaller plate thing… i would say it makes the bike look better but keep a fund for if and when you do get pulled by the old bill…
its £30 a pop but its a NON ENDORSABLE offence so its just cash however as a 17yr old i never had that much so i probably would keep any spare cash for your big bike when you do get it…
then you can blow £thousands on accesories like the rest of us trying to get one up on one another in the latest mods and performance parts…
I myself jumped into the bigger ranges because i didnt want to waste time and money on buying a smaller bike and then having to upgrade…
also recommend buying a SECOND HAND bike if your only gonna have it for a year. look round for a good one and then get it. You lose about 15% the second you ride out of the showroom.
I bought new because of the bike i have but for what you’re interested in 2nd hand is more than enough mate…
good luck with you biking mate… and any advice LONDON BIKERS is always here
