CBF1000

considering one as a commuting workhorse.

please advise.

Blue Lagos has one for sale.

The seem fairly capable, decent at crunching miles. Might feel a bit heavy after being on the 990 though.

I’ve got one and have had no issues at all. Get a decent mileage out of the tank too. Very nice bike all round and pretty bullet proof.

I’ve had a 2008 CBF 1000 ABS I’ve had since January. Done a fair few miles including an Italian tour.

Very smooth and plenty powerful. Not as comfy as you might think - after about an hour and a half numb bum has set in. At 240 kg it’s really quite heavy, and as a result it’s not very good on petrol - at cruising speed mpg is OK but half of my commute from Brixton to Slough is obviously town stuff and I average about 42 mpg. On a same run a Ducati Multistrada with similar grunt averaged nearer 50 mpg but it only weighed 200kg.

Brakes are OK but nothing more than that - probably again due to the weight. Headlights are the same.

It’s also a decent pillion and touring bike should you need one bike to do it all. Plus, the owners forum, if representative as a whole, are a bunch of old farts so the bikes tend to be well looked after, although it is a budget Japanese bike so ACF-50 is essential in the winter. Look out in particular for corrosion under the swingarm, and alternator failure.
