Cartagena April 2013 with Tracksense

Just back from Cartagena with WeeFrenchie and John.
Went with Tracksense and cannot recommend them enough.
Really well organised and a great bunch of people on the trip.
The bikes are transported in cradles which means they dont get damaged and there is room for all your kit including spare tyres.
The weather was incredible and we stayed half board in a lovely spa hotel with a pool and close to the beach. We didnt actually have much time to use the facilities and were too hungover yesterday to take advantage of having the extra day out there!

After multiple spread out trackdays (half being wet), my riding has finally improved.
It really makes the difference having 3 dry and sunny days on a warm track.
Also there were only 2 groups, meaning we had 7 x 30 minute sessions each day.
WeeFrenchie and I went in the faster group and whislt I was one of the, if not the, slowest in the group, it meant I progressed a lot.
After a frustrating day 2, I was given some advice that has resulted in a big improvement in corner speed.
A guy from a different garage rode behind me for a few laps on the final morning and gave me some advice. He said that I could commit to the corner at a higher speed which would prevent me needing some throttle mid-corner. Sounds obvious but it hadnt occurred to me. He said I should ride slower on the approach to corners so that I didnt get spooked and end up braking and then once I was happy with taking the corners quicker, I could work on other things ie take things step by step.
I am so pleased because within 2 sessions, I had taken 8 seconds off my laptimes and felt less scared than when it was all acceleration and braking.

I feel like something has finally clicked and cant wait to do my next track day!

Sounds awesome - love that second pic. That sky OBVIOUSLY isn’t in the UK!

Sounds like you had a brilliant time and the weather was on you side… Great pictures too !!

The photographer was lying on the ground for that shot…quite unnerving and I ended up getting further away from the apex each lap (even though he warned us not to do that)

Did you spot the bike going round the outside of me in the first photo?
Spanish kid on a moto3 bike that turned up for the day…he was incredible on track. He went into turn one twice as fast as I could ever imagine

Bloody hell I think I would have had a brown moment if Ihe came that close to me!

Bloody spaniards with their fantastic weather, I bet they get to go on track loads…

I remember my friends in Greece who would always pop down for a bit of fun on the track… the weather is always great and you pay for each session rather than the whole day upfront!

NICE!!!

I agree that photo is brilliant!!

yeah… at first was wondering what was up with your front fender… then saw the second shadow and realised it was another rider!

Pics are great! I’m in love!

My first TD of the year on the 23rd, woohoo!

Time to try Anita`s corner again.

Oh dear
I think Anita’s corner is what forced me to buy a track bike!

No unexpected corners on track then, it`s like running a half marathon and finding a cross country section.

Yes it would be quite a worry to find an unexpected corner after 100 laps! Lol
