Can you tour on a SuperMoto?

According to Johnny you can : http://www.yam-xt.com/articles/johnny.html

Respect

Anyone else gone touring on their SuperMoto?

I went to the South of France on mine last year, did 800 miles in one day. The bike was fab although we couldnt ride at 100 mph for long periods of time, but to be honest you ride at that speed and you miss all the scenery. I would not have made the journey to Dover if I had been on my Firestorm but with the XT I got off and didnt even realise I had ridden for so long…

Just the ride home makes my arse ache on the DRZ

Would having a fatter ar$e help? or maybe different foam in the seat?

I’ve done 120miles in one hit on an XT660 and that was ok, but i was glad the fuel light came on!!

Biggus, my big arse has been bought and paid for over a 25 year period of drinking beer, dont think it will get beter. Not sure how to put this but it’s not the size of the arse but the wedgie I get from the razor thin seat.

Oh ok

Hahahahahaha LOL @ londondrz

I have about an inch of foam removed from my XT’s seat and I still managed about 450 miles in 1 day. My arse was fine it was just my feet and hands that were numb from the vibes.

As I have titanium pipes on mine I can fit full luggage on the XTX as well. Handles fine with it on too.

Blimey, that’s commitment, I like it! Well done Johnny!

I’m all embarrassed now. I’m going to the south of France with the same guys in July, doing all the good roads down there, Route Napolean etc. I might see if I can get in MCN again!

On the Husaberg are you joking?!!!

Having said that i do know someone who rode theirs to Le Mans. He used a cushion strapped to the seat and had to change the oil on arrival. Now thats dedication.

Well done Johnny, hope you get MCN involved if you do it again. Try all the bike mags, Performance Bikes and RiDE are liking Supermotos at the minute.

Johnny rides an XTX btw Year 1.

Not on the SMC I wouldn’t. If I did 800 miles in 1 day that would be 16 fuel stops I would need a new arse as well, oh and prob a new set of teeth as mine would have rattled out

Its not the arse ache i would worry about ,it would be the shoulders, the upright position and motorway blats holding on to the bars, good stuff though.

Or the ears… The DRZ used to give me headaches after a while, even with earplugs!

Has anyone tried the made to measure ear plugs ???

Get yourself down to your ‘madam’ so she can get all medieval on yo’ ass for about six months prior to the trip. That should tan your hide sufficiently to handle the ride. Then repeatedly plunge your hands and feet into bags of pins to familiarize yourself with that sensation, Oh and don’t forget to book a chiroprator for your arrival.

Long distances are a doddle on a motard - unless it’s more than 70 miles between fuel stops.
