mmmmm, drooool. I like that a lot. Its probably one of the only twins I would ever buy for the road. I have no experience of owning one but know a few that have/do. A draw back to owning one is that parts can be hard to get hold of. That one appears to have the standard monstrosity of an Aprilia race can as well, suggest that you try to get the original as its a bit loud!
Obviously go have a look at it. Try taking someone who knows exactly what to look out for. Good luck mate.
Looks nice, if I were you I would be asking all sorts of questions of a selled on ebay before parting with my hard earned or even bidding. VinnieMV is your man he knows more about these bikes then any one else I have spoken too.
I put the same can on a friends Mille and it is loud but distinctly liveable. If you know Boxhill, the owner stood in the car park and could hear me all the way to the garage and back at the end of the Mickleham bends.
Maybe worth trying to find out where the bike has been serviced and have a word with the garage.
A very good bike but being Italian it’ll doubtless have dodgy electrics. That seems to be the only complaint I’ve heard, oh and if you ride it all year round the finish goes off quickly.
But £3k ? Looks like a bargain provided he’s not binned it.
Looks very nice mate, def ask a lot of probing Q’s, Ebay can be dodgy as you know!! previous owners, garage that serviced it, written off, nicked i would check the lot.
only common fault ive heard of on them is clutch slave cylinder seals going, pull the clutch in and hold a steady pressure on it if it starts to creap back to the bar it has the problem, normally only on bikes that have stood for a while, or not had the fluid changed, otherwise cool, think the italian dodgy electrics thing is a bit of a stereotype now and not strictly true anymore
Thanks for the info about the clutch Master, Ill look out for it…
Im still not sure about this bike, Although its a good price its had the Haga sticker kit put on on the wrong olour bike, The Haga reps are Black and red not orange and blue…
I think ill prob go take a look and see it in the flesh at the weekend, Ill report back with my success…
In the mean time if there are anhy other tips from owners or x owners I would like to hear from you.
I’ve got an 02 Mille at the mo but have been riding Mille’s every since they came out.
They are lovely bikes and are great fun to ride. The only problem I’ve had with it is as Andrew says the electric’s are a pain. When you wash the bike there not keen to start if you leave it a while, the best way round it is to start the bike and leave it runing for 5 to 10 mins as soon as you have finished.
The engine is very good with loads of tourque and huge amouts of engine braking plus the standard brakes are top notch so you can normaly out brake most people into bends. The handling is strong and turns into corners with ease ( I would say get some Diablo Corsers on it too) and give’s loads of feedback all the way. I can still get my knee down in wet and icey conditions and have never thought once it was going to go on me.
£3,000 sounds like a good deal just make sure you give it a very good going over to make sure all is well. Word of warning though some poeple and not too keen on the way a V-Twin engine works so have a go one it before making the final decision.
That’s better really, a stocker rather than someone’s modified dog’s dinner. Much more reassuring to spend yer hand earned on, esp being an Italian thoroughbred and all.
She looks great, and sussing those clocks will, I understand, keep you busy for many chilly evening waiting for Spring.
