I’m thinking about doing a day next year, either at Silverstone or preferrably Rockingham. It’s pretty expensive compared to a track day but the instruction is second to non.
I think it’s about £250 for the day, but they do discounts for groups of 10 or more.
So all you track virgins, now’s your chance to learn how from experts and under safe conditions in small groups of riders with the same ability.
From personal experience, I much prefer Silverstone myself, especially if they use the international layout, it’s great fun, fast and much nearer London. Rockingham is a bit of a ride, but still a fun circuit, if a little short for my tastes, but then again, you’ll be going there to learn the art of cornering.
Can highly recommend this school. I know lots of people who have used them and learnt loads. Careful when you book with them for Silverstone, they usually use the short circuit so its worth checking which one they will be instructing on.
I was talking to Andy Ibbot, the school director, and he recommended Rockingham as it is ALL corners - which is kinda the point of the school as you both say.
I’ve only heard good things about it too. Not just from him either
I crashed at Rockingham last year (1c conditions, cold tires, yada yada), though this doesn’t affect my opinion. It’s a great small-bike track, but it’s certainly not for litre bikes, there’s no straights (literally)! Amazing facilities though, the best in the country, IMO.
You are at cornering school… Its not a track day… the more corners the better… straights are irrelevant…
Watch Chris Sherring and Jonny Haynes (Instructors) on their 05 R1’s round The rock and then tell me its not good for the big bikes…
Mate there are a lot of fast corners on that track… a lot of fun…
When they do Silverstone they do Stowe circuit which is NOTHING to do with silverstone itself accept that its in the same plot of land… Dont do it its awful… Go Rockingham and I’ll see you there …
did CSS at Silverstone in September and loved it, got rid of a lot of bad habbits and really boosted up my confidence they use the short Stowe circuit and ran it anti clockwise so was all left handers when I went which I really enjoyed
am deffo gonna go back next year and do levels 2 & 3 not cheap but worth the money in my opinion. If Baloo is going in April may arrange to hook up with him for the session
