Anyone know where us smoker types stand when it come to buying fags over the net? There a few companies that say that they are 100% legit & your cigs will not be nicked by customs, but the last time I used them (about 12 years ago) my baccy got nabbed & customs had a good old smoke at my expense.
I thought that you could by them overseas & get them delievered just as long as they were for your own personal use & you won’t be flogging down the market…or is that only applicable to those who do a booze cruise to Calais?
Any ideas?
I was under the impression that ‘duty-free’ applies only to importing personally, i.e. in your hand/luggage.
I stand to be corrected, though.
So I can order cigs from overseas, but would have to pay tax anyway……and they wonder why bootlag fags are such a big business.
Failing that, it’s a trip on a ferry.
With cheap crossings you can still save a bit, and come back with a few other goodies for Christmas. I had a lovely day off about this time last year when I took the bike over on the Tunnel, had a buzz down to Boulogne for lunch in the old town, hit the shops on the way back, and was home by early evening, with a topbox and underseat full of cider and champagne, and a huge bag of fags bungied onto the pillion.
P.S. I expect that you know fags are even cheaper in Belgium than France?
Indeed, maybe even cheaper in Luxemborg. But still at French prices, still a darn site cheaper than this place.
