Hi lads. I can buy a nice gsrx but is one problem.
Bike is HPI ok, all documents V5 history, mots, but owner avoid (for some reason) sell this bike from his home address, he agreed sell from ACE Cafe but not home address. When I offerr him part in cash and rest of money as a bank transfer he refused this kind of transaction. Question is buy it or not. I’m not a good "trader"and don’t know all this tricks and scams.
Thanks for any andvice.
Don’t have anything to do with it. There are plenty of bikes on sale from reputable places. This one is not.
Yes sure I’ll. HPI shows last owner change 12.08.2012 but will try somewhere else.
Cheers
run for the hills. not worth it. Its a buyers dream out there at mo. Plenty of bikes at cheap prices to choose from.
If something does go wrong at least you can get it back to the palce you bought it!
Ok so let’s look at this a different way. If you take the Ace Cafe out of the equation he’s attempting to sell you a bike for cash at the side of the road in North London. No one in their right mind would consider buying a bike in those circumstances.
NOT
Buying privately, at the same address as is on the V5, is pretty much a pre-requisite. As Jody said, all you’re doing is buying a bike on the side of the road. No way, Jose.
just to say i use to meet people at my mums to sell bike, not for anything dodgy just she had a garden etc so found it easier and also didnt really want anyone seeing any security i had for the bike in my garage just in case their not sellers and going to return, now i would do it from my address but would get b ike out of garage and meet them round front but seeing as i live on the 5th floor i can only do it on main rd nr block anyway.
I never sell anything from my house. I take the item to them to their place as I don’t want them casing my place for a re visit.
If I don’t like the area where they live, I back off the deal, phone and tell them why.
Street sales? No way. Apart from the legal ownership question, there’s all sorts of other not nice things that can happen.
I would stay clear and look around.
Run for the hills!!
Also - you are going, with cash, to meet someone you don’t know? He buys you a tea, follows you into the bog, smack over the head and you have lost all your money.
Never, ever agree to take cash and meet someone you don’t know - unless you name in Big Vern - as you are very exposed to a thief.
Thank you for all advices. To be honest they should stay as a sticky topic. I didn’t buy this and instead got nice Bandit 1250 09 plate.
Don’t touch it, it will be a stolen bike a donor frame/engine that was not registered as crashed.
Happens all the time.
Just to add to this, there may be an honest explanation for it. On the KTM forum just recently someone posted about advertising on ebay as quite a few bikes have been on there and then the advert has changed to bike not for sale because of theft…
Now it may be that he is just being cautious to avoid people scoping out his place. It would be ok in my mind to do the viewing in a separate location but when it’s time for the paperwork to be done, you need to do it at his place for the reasons mentioned above.
