anyone done this before and have any suggestions or precautions i should take, need to decide this week and maybe might have to get motivated for a trip up there on saterday if all else fails.
thanks for any input.
oh little more info its not a private sale its from a garage/dealer believe bike comes with 3month warranty and they deliver nationwide.

I purchased a secondhand scooter from a dealer only seeing pictures but it had only done 2 miles and had sat in a garage for 6 months and didn’t have any issues. Not sure if I would do that on a secondhand bike and some dealers are known to be economical with the truth hoping they can talk you round when you see it.

If you are paying by credit card you will have some comeback if there are problems however you need to be happy that the bike may need to go back up if it needs warranty work.

Done it often with cars and bikes , but usually relativley low production or enthusiast owned stuff .

I did that for my bike(from up north:hehe:). I’ve researched the dealer beforehand, read all the feedback on different forums. Saw all the photos, talked to the dealer. A year later, and it’s been great.

The only problem I had with it was at the very beginning the rectifier suddenly died (possibly because of me leaving parking lights on for 8 hours:Whistling:). Anyway, since I needed the bike for commuting to work, I got RAC tow the bike to a local garage and fix it up on the same day. Naturally, when I told my dealer, they were a bit awkward about me getting it repaired with someone else and not informing them, so I got only half the money reimbursed for the rectifier.

So, yeah, if there is a problem that renders the bike unrideable, there are several things you should be aware of consider. Transporting it to the dealer and back quite likely will cost significantly more than the repair. And, not will it cost a decent penny, but sorting out the long distance transport and actually transporting it will take much longer (you will be left bikeless for a while). Finally, there is always a possibility that the fault might have been caused by you/is not covered by the warranty, and you are liable for the sizeable transporting costs in addition to the repair work.:ermm:

Is it good honest Lancastrian up north or devious Yorkshire types?

to be honest the 3 month warranty is only a fall back if something super expensive goes wrong ,wheather i go and collect the bike or get it delivered i would never send it back up there unless i thought the bike was a complete lemon,i do most of my own work on bikes, so as long as parts are cheap its not to much a problem, i suppose its more about how honest the dealer is,plan is to give them a ring tomorrow for a good chat, its one of them things could all go smooth and have no worries ,but could turn into a right headache if the bike does have any major problems ,bikes done 15,000 miles.
I’m actually starting to think its a little crazy idea and might just get the train up there early saturday and ride it back if the bike seems ok.

well done some research on the net its amazing what you can find out ,4 companies selling bikes in yorkshire area all have the same director, these are some of the biggest sellers on auto trader, they seem to shift a lot of bikes have closed some companies and reopened under different names .
mixed reviews on the internet about them all, think i can safely say i will not be buying this bike unless i go and see it…
really only was going for this bike cause its the yellow and black colour which is a little rare but it really has more mileage on than i wanted ,my original plan was to just buy a black or blue one and order the yellow and black fairings but than your back to the problem of cheap chinese quality and if i picked up a blue one would defo have to get the tank painted,oh well i will think more about it tomorrow.

TBH if it comes with warranty i wouldn’t worry about it, you should be asking them why they are saying 3months warranty though as Consumer rights means they have to give 6months!!!

Yellow/Black - didn’t think they did this colour scheme in the UK in those years, you got a link as it may be an import… Especially if from DK motorcycles!

just go for it - you can refuse the delivery if it is not as described/looks/sounds like a dog!

Done this couple times and will say is 50/50 game
In worst scenario I didn’t pay and seller made refund for my travel costs.

ah just went to try and past a link and it seems its sold already, since i discovered one of the companies owned by the same directors is actually …webuyanybike.com,it completely put me off the bike ,as they offer extremely low prices for bikes i think many people just off load bikes with problems to them,so i think you have a high chance of getting a bike that has not been well cared for jmo of coarse.

sean a few yellow and black ones come up for sale year 06/07. always seem to have high mileage though ,there was one 30 miles away from me about a month ago but had 22,000 miles on it.
how would you know if its an import?..i presume only by seeing log book.

to be honest there is a lot better bikes advertised nearer to me with a lot less mileage,so will probably continue with my plan of changing the fairings myself to the yellow/black.

Think I saw it before they sold it, TBH there is a lot better for the same price or less - just get one cheaper and send it for a custom paint job!

is 22000 high mileage? really? for a 7 year old bike?

^^ was thinking the same. I’d rather have a looked after sports 600 with 50k on the clock than a thrashed one with 10k miles.

Plenty of guys commute in from the counties daily, clocking up 15k+ in a year. (Well, would be if the speedo drive hadn’t ‘come adrift’)
