Hi guys, Anyone got any ideas if there are loop holes when fines land on ya door step for being in a bus lane, This is the second notice I have recieved in the last two days for the same strectch of road…
I wouldnt mind but in all the pictures they sent I cant see one F*cking bus !!
Dont use them…these lanes are not about getting the buses moving, its about making it as difficult as possible for other road users to get about (and money),…that goes for them bloody cycle lanes as well, why put them in when they all ride on the pavement !!!
Surely you were turning left at the next junction, immediately after the camera… Or perhaps that was the time when your bike suddenly started to lose power so you had to pull over… Or maybe it was the time when you suddenly started to feel ill, or got something in your eye…
I must have been incredibly lucky: have used the same stretch of bus lane for over two years now and have not been fined once. Have, in that time, seen a total of ONE bus on the bus lane!
Zombie - bin there done that - paid the fine - heres a writeup I did on another forum.
This, as you, happened to me twice in a week - two letters, two fines. I wrote and appealled both.
Quote Me:
True - but a lot depends how they stack the complaints / appeals system against you.
Near were I live I was caught in a bus lane on my bike - ( its only 300 yards long - I was in last 100 yards prepearing to turn left at a tricky/busy junction). Fine £100.
I wrote a long and articulate letter as to why I was in the lane ( safety ), and how I had almost been knocked of before at that junction, and so took left lane ealier to be in position to see what cars were doing before the scramble as they all pulled left at the end of the bus lane. Sent my bikesafe credentials etc.
My points were not addressed, I was simply told they’d decided against me and to pay up.
But I could still appeal in person.
HOWEVER - HAD I LOST AGAIN, I WAS LIABLE FOR THE ENTIRE COSTS OF THE APEAL ( WAGES OF THOSE PRESENT ETC. ).
Funnily enough, I decided not to go down this route - I wonder under these circumstances others decide not to persue an appeal they believe to be right.
System rigged against you - trust in system ruined - said laws viewed with contempt as a money raising scam - its an easy equation brought about by a abuse of the system by those who implemented it and enforce it.
End quote.
The rub is this:
I had to pay the fine on the first one, the other was dropped - but I was never officially informed that they had decided in my favour - had I had this in writing, I would have then got them to cancel the first one. But the fuckers obviously thought this out.
just argue that your bike is classed a bicycle cos that’s what it say’s on a tax disc it worked for my mate. and if that dont work it will defintly wind them up
